**Primary Responsibilities**:Leads and mentors a small group of Lab Technicians in a Functional Test Area team in coordinating and tracking test & equipment scheduling within this areaConducts tests, maintains records of work performed, analyzes data collected, summarizes and reports resultsWorks autonomously within established laboratory procedures and practicesPerforms mechanical testing on a variety of product types or components involving programming and running test lab equipment while following written procedures, methods, and/or instructionsDevelops and coordinates in building lab test fixturesAssists in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs of lab test equipmentAssists in training of new lab employees and Lab Technicians with new test procedures, setups, etc.Helps draft internal laboratory Standardized Work Instructions as well as Data and Report Templates to assist Lab Management & Test EngineeringAssists in ensuring the availability of adequate supplies and equipmentFrequent interface with other personnel outside of the lab department (Engineering, Quality, etc.)Provides support in Quality Audits, Customer Complaints, and Failure AnalysisMust operate in a manner that reinforces, supports, and is consistent with the Cooper Standard Leadership ModelExpertise in ensuring good plant 6S standards are followed.Ensures housekeeping and health and safety standards are maintainedMay, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description Education and Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent requiredTwo Year College Degree or applicable Technical Training and Certification is preferredEight plus years of relevant work experienceStrong mechanical aptitude, as well as technical and analytical problem‐solving skillsSkills or working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systemsGood interpersonal skills to work effectively with others in a team environmentProficient in Microsoft Office applicationsGood verbal and written communication skillsKnowledge of most standard control systems utilized in Laboratory and Material Testing EquipmentAbility to lift up to thirty pounds on a regular basisUnderstanding of Material Failure modes, Gage R&R, and Capability Studies a plusPrevious experience leading others preferredWillingness and ability to travel, as necessary Work Environment/Work Conditions:Professional Office EnvironmentMust wear proper personal protection equipment while on manufacturing floorTravel to manufacturing facilities or customer locations when requiredEquipment used requires proper training on the potential for and avoidance of injury
