The Facilities Assistant & Handyman will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of our facilities, ensuring they are safe, functional, and well-maintained. This role combines administrative duties with hands-on maintenance tasks, requiring a blend of organizational skills and practical handyman expertise.
**Key Responsibilities**:
**Facilities Coordination**:
- Work closely with the Facilities Supervisor to handle ongoing office repairs.
- Maintain records of repairs, their status, and any third-party service providers used.
- Track correspondence related to repairs, Health & Safety, and risk management.
- Keep the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) informed about repairs and liaise with the JHSC Chair on major issues.
- Forward repair work to the appropriate parties and ensure all repairs are followed up promptly and completed satisfactorily.
- Schedule preventative maintenance and respond to urgent maintenance calls.
- Participate as an active member of the JHSC, coordinate monthly site inspections, conduct trend analysis, and escalate common concerns.
- Perform other duties as required, maintaining knowledge, and enforcing procedures related to Fire, Safety, Quality, and environmental standards.
- Ensure a safe, orderly, and tidy work area and participate in team meetings and decision-making.
**Handyman Duties**:
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks, such as fixing leaks, repairing doors, and replacing light fixtures.
- Conduct routine inspections to proactively identify and address maintenance needs.
- Assemble and install furniture, equipment, and fixtures as needed.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
- Assist with office moves, setups, and reconfigurations.
**Qualifications**:
- Proven experience in facilities management, maintenance, or a related field.
- Strong handyman skills with proficiency in basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and general repairs.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations.
- Competence with Microsoft office (Word, Excel)
- Strong understanding of project management, time management, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
- Ability to work independently, self
- driven and dependable.
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English language
- A Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
- A current First Aid & CPR Certifications an asset
- A Current Vulnerable Sector Police check completed within last 12 months
- **Physical Requirements**:_
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects.
- Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Manual dexterity and physical stamina.

Pay: $20.00 per hour
