What you'll do

Part of the BTP HANA & Persistency Development organization, the Database Competence Center plays a vital role in driving customer success and adoption of our product portfolio. We engage directly with customers, lines of business, partners and other internal stakeholders, providing them with advanced technical support and a link to Development and Product Management teams.

We are seeking a Senior Product Specialist with deep HANA knowledge and extensive customer management experience. This is a very technical, hands-on position. You will be responsible for:

  • Providing expert-level technical support to HANA database customers and other stakeholders.
  • Supporting customer and different SAP organizations with complex HANA projects, acting as a bridge to the HANA Development organization.
  • Managing critical customer escalations, customer care programs and quality initiatives.
  • Leading the implementation of proof-of-concept projects at early product stages.
  • Providing product feedback to the HANA Development team.
  • Supporting the most complex and technically challenging HANA implementations.

What you bring

Role Requirements (must-haves)

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional work experience in customer-facing roles.
  • University degree or equivalent, preferably with solid background in Computer Science, but Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics are also acceptable.
  • Advanced knowledge in relational database technologies.
  • Experience with HANA administration and performance optimization.
  • Experience collecting and assessing complex traces.
  • Experience troubleshooting HANA issues. Great analytical thinking with versatile and innovative problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced communication skills for proper interaction with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Relationship and trust building skills.
  • Experience with operations of large business applications/systems.
  • Ability to learn autonomously and without guidance.
  • Comfortable managing uncertainty.

Optional skills (nice-to-haves)

  • Knowledge of SAP's warehouse solutions (e.g. BW on HANA, native HANA EDW / data mart solutions) and/or knowledge of SAP's suite solutions (e.g. Suite on HANA, S/4HANA)
  • Knowledge of SAP Analytics Cloud
  • Knowledge of SAP Datasphere
  • Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. ABAP, C++, Python, Unix shell etc.)
  • Knowledge of Linux and enterprise computing solutions (high availability, file systems, computer networks etc.)
  • Knowledge of cloud computing concepts and services.

SAP believes the value of pay transparency contributes towards an honest and supportive culture and is a significant step toward demonstrating SAP's commitment to pay equity. SAP provides the annualized compensation range inclusive of base salary and variable incentive target for the career level applicable to the posted role. The targeted combined range for this position is 98, ,200 (CAD) CAD. The actual amount to be offered to the successful candidate will be within that range, dependent upon the key aspects of each case which may include education, skills, experience, scope of the role, location, etc. as determined through the selection process. Any SAP variable incentive includes a targeted dollar amount, and any actual payout amount is dependent on company and personal performance.
