The Terraces Memory Residence has an opportunity for a     RECREATIONIST     Position Type: Temporary Part-Time (up to 8 months) Shift Type: Day, alternate weekends (subject to change) Hourly Pay Rate: $28.1800 - $35.0900 Bi-Weekly Hours: 30 Hours Posting Number: 9336 Union: OPSEU 595 Date Posted: October 17, 2025 Internal Closing Date: October 24, 2025     Job Summary: At Baycrest Terraces, leisure is an important component of both quality of life and well-being.  It allows individuals opportunities for self-determination and utilization of strengths while engaging in meaningful leisure, which is the foundation of Therapeutic Recreation services. This position will be working with residents on our Memory Care Floor.     Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Works with the Terraces Recreation team to develop therapeutic programs for Memory Care Floor Providing departmental program coverage, including occasional evening and weekend work Design and lead innovative individual and group programs based on residents’ needs Ability and flexibility to execute spontaneous programming when resident needs arise Work with Volunteers and other staff to identify and monitor resident needs Facilitate the provision of intergenerational programming Contribute to the multi-disciplinary care team Coordinate services with other staff/departments Develop and maintain inventory of program supplies Adhere to infection control practices, policies and procedures     Qualifications include but are not limited to: Minimum 2-year College Diploma in Recreation or Activation or equivalent Member in good standing with TRO or APO Experience in planning, implementing and evaluating creative recreation programming Skill working with the frail and cognitively impaired older adults Ability to work independently and as a part of the interdisciplinary team, and effectively manage challenging situations Ability to speak a second language such as Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian or Hungarian would be an asset Certificate in U-First and/or Alzheimer Society for Dementia Care Training Program (DCTP) preferred Knowledge of community resources would be an asset Computer skills and the ability to work with Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and Publisher     Additional Benefits: Vacation Entitlement Opportunity to enroll in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) Access to 24/7 Employee Assistance Program     INTERNAL APPLICANTS: Current Baycrest employees must apply online through the Baycrest intranet.
