Position SummaryThe OpportunityNorthern Health is seeking a Nurse Practitioner to join the team at the Mackenzie & District Hospital and Primary Care Clinic. This full-time position offers the opportunity to provide longitudinal primary care to patients of all ages in a supportive, team-based environment. The NP will work alongside family physicians and an integrated interprofessional team to deliver high-quality, culturally safe care. Key Responsibilities•Provide longitudinal primary care to a diverse patient population across the lifespan.• Attach patients per the Provincial Attachment System (PAS) guidelines. • Use Electronic Medical Record (EMR)s for documentation and clinical workflows.• Collaborate with family physicians and an interprofessional team to support patient care.• Participate in team-based care and contribute to quality improvement initiativesAbout the CommunityMackenzie is a friendly and close-knit community located in north-central British Columbia, surrounded by forests, lakes, and mountains. In addition to the primary care clinic, the facility has 5 acute care beds, 4 long term care beds, emergency department, laboratory, medical imaging, and home and community care services. Salary RangeNew Graduate NP - $145,739 1 Year Experience - $153,026 2 Years Experience - $160,313Incentives & Support• Competitive compensation and benefits.• Flexible scheduling options.• Financial incentives are available through the Provincial Attachment System.• Supportive team environment with mentorship opportunities• Comprehensive orientation and ongoing clinical support.• Professional development funds available based on a learning plan after 6 months of work.QualficationsEducation and Experience- Completion of BCCNM approved Master’s degree level nurse practitioner program.- Eligible for registration as a Nurse Practitioner with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Ability to communicate and collaborate with patients/clients/residents and families about health findings, diagnosis, treatment, self-care and prognosis.- Ability to collaborate, consult with and formally refer patients/clients/residents to physicians and other health professionals when appropriate.- Ability to critically assess and evaluate health research literature to determine best practices; ability to introduce education and evidence-based research.- Ability to assess and recognize population health trends; ability to plan and implement strategies for population-based prevention and health promotion.- Ability to implement and evaluate planned change.- Ability to supervise others and evaluate the care they deliver.- Ability to lead a team and work within a team.- Ability to self-direct, interact, and adapt effectively with other professionals in complex, dynamic situations.- Ability to transfer knowledge, teach, coach and mentor others.- Ability to identify and respond appropriately to legal and ethical issues that may arise in patient/resident/client care.- Ability to self-assess performance and assume responsibility and accountability for own professional development, educational or consultative assistance when appropriate.
