Wood is recruiting for an Offshore Radio Operator – Adhoc (Casual /Temporary) to join its Operations team focusing on the oil and gas petrochemical industry. This opportunity is offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, working on an as needed, call-out basis. The Role Location: Offshore Newfoundland and Labrador Site / Office based: Hibernia platform Hours of work: 12 hours per day Rotation / work pattern: Call out, as needed Required: Site-specific medical, drug and alcohol testing Unionized position: Rates follow the Collective Bargaining Agreement You will be working in confined spaces and/or at heights, as well as noisy conditions. Work may be indoors or outdoors, and at extreme temperatures. Expected: Experience as a Radio Operator in an Offshore environment, preferably in the oil and gas industry General Operators Certificate endorsed for GMDSS issued by Industry Canada GMDSS Certificate from an accredited GMDSS training institution Aviation and marine weather observer certification from a recognized institution or qualified instructor Restricted Operators Aeronautical (ROA) Certificate Effective communication skills (written, oral, and computer) Qualified to MANMAR & METAR standard with INDS Weather Radar Navigation Certification ARPA Familiarity with Canadian Rescue Coordination Centre and procedures Familiarity with ECAREG procedures Familiarity with computerized maintenance management system Demonstrated teamwork behaviors consistent with company values Familiarity with quality processes Ability to recognize and resolve conflict Maintain mandatory training and certification for continued offshore work Experience working in a producing offshore oil and gas facility or petrochemical environment The following Offshore Certificates and Training is required and would be considered an asset: Basic Survival Training (BST) including HUET and HUEBA Advanced Rigging, Slinging, and Banksman Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) Alive Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS 2015) Offshore Safety Regulatory Awareness Fall Protection Confined Space Entry Emergency First Aid Understanding of permit to work and work management systems Physical Requirements: Must be able to safely lift and carry up to 50lbs Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above Able to move and work in confined spaces, following proper protocol May be required consistently to work 12-hour shifts performing physical labour in varying temperature extremes and conditions. May be required to work overtime on occasion Must be able to climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, scaffolds and steel framework, utilizing proper fall arrest procedures when required. Able to safely and comfortably work at heights without posing a danger to oneself or others Able to meet physical requirements of frequent walking, climbing, standing, bending, twisting and crawling for the duration of the shift Must be able to understand and implement all safety requirements for travel offshore and onboard the platform undefined
