The Maintenance Attendant is responsible for the effective functioning and upkeep of the physical appearance of the grounds, furniture and equipment in the retirement community while maintaining legislative compliance and safety standards in accordance with the Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority, Occupational Health & Safety, Emergency and Fire Codes.What You Will Do: Ensure safety of staff and residents by regularly maintaining equipment and furniture and by providing general upkeep to the physical grounds and its large systemsDevelop and maintain effective relationships with residents and guests in order to determine individual needs, resolve issues or concerns, and evaluate resident satisfactionPlan and implement a regular daily, weekly, monthly and yearly schedule of preventative maintenance activities to ensure the plant and equipment are safe and in good working order.Provide minor building, electrical, plumbing and equipment repair services to ensure the optimum functioning of the physical plant and equipmentReceive and store all non-kitchen related deliveriesQualifications or Skills Required: Covid-19 vaccination is mandatoryMust be able to follow written and verbal instructionsMust be able to read and communicate effectivelyDemonstrated empathy and understanding of the needs of seniorsEffective interpersonal relationship and conflict resolution skillsAbility to organize work and work under strict time constraintsMust have a high standard of hygiene and cleanlinessMust be able to operate related equipmentAll applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
