Senior Business Analyst

Job DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?The role operates within the Portfolio & Change Management (PCM) group and will function primarily as a Senior Business Analyst (BA) on various initiatives across the Settlements and Clearing Services and Middle Office area within the Business & Client Services (BCS) department. Various project drivers include: Business or Process improvements, technology enhancement or system implementations, operational risk reduction, quality improvement, regulatory soundness, cost reduction, etc.You will work directly with relevant participants to define project parameters, success criteria, solutions, and timelines while deploying best practices in process analysis, requirements documentation, project planning, testing, and stakeholder communication.What will you do?Lead and participate in projects of various sizes and scopes being SCS’s primary project contact, while providing business analysis expertise to enable successful executionResearch, formulate, propose and implement strategic solutions with a focus on identifying process improvement/reengineering opportunities through streamlining, simplification, elimination of redundancies/overlaps, improved capacity utilization, automation, outsourcing, standardization, etc. Ensure the effective execution of analysis by team to deliver productivity/improvements positively impacting the bottom line and client satisfaction. Get involved where required.Provide direct support and guidance to Business Analysts and provide assistance to management as required.Liaise with Operations, Technology, Business and other key teams to define and review requirementsProvide Capital Markets Operations subject matter expertise as availableDocument UAT (User Acceptance Testing) strategies, including creation of test cases where requiredWork efficiently with a view to high-quality work product and quick-to-market solutions.Support system testing and creation of user documentation.Build strong, long-term relationships throughout the RBC organization.Constantly seek to improve own capacity, skills and expertise.Provide concise and effective updates to Project Managers, Program Lead, stakeholders as necessary What you need to succeed?***Required Qualifications (Must Have):5+ Years of Capital Markets Operations Business Analyst experienceComprehensive Settlements Operations experience, with deep knowledge of post-trade lifecycle processes & key functions across Capital Market asset-classesExpertise across Settlement, Clearing, Reconciliations functions, workflows & systemsStrong understanding of CCP and Central Securities Depository  (CSD) functions in the context of Capital Markets clearing and settlementProven ability to manage processes and/or business & technology stakeholders across End-to-End Capital Market Journeys & Transformational ChangeMinimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in Finance, Engineering, Science or Math desirableGood working knowledge of Capital Markets operational functions and processes, particularly in the area of Settlements and Clearing.Detailed understanding of the fundamentals of Capital Markets trading and the transaction lifecycleStrong knowledge of supporting systems used within OperationsDetailed understanding of Capital Markets organizational structure (front office sales and trading, middle office, product control, BCS, regulatory/compliance, etc.)Familiarity with regional differences in operational processing within RBC Capital Markets.Skillful in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, etc.)Proficiency in VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)Self-motivated, able to work independently and within a teamAbility to prioritize, plan and execute work to meet tight deadlinesStrong analytical skills - Ability to identify issues and suggest solutionsDetail orientedCapable of building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders across the enterpriseWhat’s in it for you?
