About the Role We are hiring a Talent & Retention Manager to take ownership of one of the most important functions in our company: Understanding and setting our hiring needs across all 4 cities, placing the right people in those roles and keeping the good ones. This isn't a traditional HR administrator role. This position is outcome-focused and operationally aligned. You will be measured on hiring readiness, retention results, and your ability to work effectively with operations and leadership. This role is designed to grow with the company and may evolve into broader people leadership over time. Key Responsibilities Hiring & Workforce Planning Build and execute hiring plans by role and location Prepare staffing pipelines ahead of peak season Manage job postings, screening, interviews, and offers Reduce time-to-fill and hiring disruptions Partner with operations and other departments to forecast staffing needs Retention & Turnover Reduction Own early-stage retention (30/60/90-day outcomes) Analyze why employees leave and identify patterns Conduct exit interviews and retention reviews Partner with operations and training to address root causes Improve seasonal rehire and return rates Collaboration & Leadership Work closely with: Training & Personnel Manager (onboarding and readiness) HR Ops / Payroll Manager (documentation and compliance) Operations leadership and foremen Use data to influence decisions and improvements Escalate risks early with proposed solutions ATS and AI Utilize existing ATS to track and report key metrics such as: Time-to-hire Offer acceptance rate 30/60/90-day retention Voluntary vs involuntary turnover Provide clear insights to leadership AI to assist with:Screening applicantsReviewing qualificationsScanning resumes for authenticity Updating a candidate activity summary What Success Looks Like Staffing needs are met before peak season Hiring becomes predictable and proactive Early turnover is reduced Retention issues are identified early and addressed Operations experience less staffing-related stress What We're Looking For Experience 5+ years of experience in talent acquisition, workforce planning, or people operations Experience supporting hourly or operational workforces is strongly preferred Multi-location and/or seasonal hiring experience is an asset Skills & Traits Comfortable being accountable for outcomes Data-driven and practical Willing to challenge assumptions respectfully Organized, proactive, and solutions-oriented Education Post-secondary education preferred (business, HR, psychology, operations, or similar) Equivalent practical experience will be considered in lieu of formal education Compensation & Benefits Starting salary: $80,000 – $90,000 KPI driven Annual Bonuses up to to $10,000 Opportunity for performance-based growth as the role expands Benefits package Opportunity to grow into broader people leadership Why Join Burly Boyz Moving Direct impact on company success Exposure to leadership and decision-making Opportunity to shape and improve people systems A role with room to grow as the company scales
