HVAC Technician

Summary Responsibility for skilled technical work in the maintenance, repair and upgrading of building systems components and related installations including the performance of a variety of maintenance and installation tasks according to established schedules, methods and procedures. Oversee the work of contractors; develop work plans; respond to emergency situations; adapt work methods to address problems; estimate and requisition materials; and prepare records and reports related to the work. Scope of duties & responsibilities Assist in the development of a preventive maintenance program for the physical plant. Train staff and implement the preventive maintenance program. Perform complex maintenance and repair work and prepare records related to the work. Rebuild equipment and calibrate gauges and controls. Operate and adjust control systems and maintain an inventory of parts and supplies Check work for conformance to schedules and technical standards. Install, maintain and repair existing fixtures and components. Provide advice on installations and fixture upgrades. Assist in all facility maintenance tasks as assigned. Be part of the facilities management out-of-hours team, ensuring the successful delivery of all Property and Customer services within the full operational coverage (i.e. 7day//year). Ensure compliance with and endorsement of FM Contract requirements for security, including security clearance as required by Kelowna Airport management. Comply with the Companys Policies, Management Plans and Procedures Fulfil Health & Safety responsibilities by adherence to the requirements of the Company's Health & Safety Policy and Health & Safety Management Plans Support the Company's Quality Policy Statement and actively participate in the achievement of Company and personal Quality objectives Undertake such other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as may reasonably be required within the Department / Service. Requirements / Qualifications Inter-Provincial Journeymens Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanics Ticket. Inter-Provincial Journeymens B: Gasfitters Ticket is an asset. Minimum 5 years journeyman experience directly related to the operation, maintenance, construction and commissioning of related electrical and mechanical systems and utilities in similar facilities. Demonstrated experience in troubleshooting and programming VFD, DDC, DCS and/or PLC control systems. Knowledge of occupational hazards, safe working practices and applicable regulations in Facility Management in accordance with Work Safe Regulations. Ability to establish and maintain satisfactory standards of maintenance and to implement and perform predictive and preventative maintenance schedules. Ability to work in a team environment with a minimum of supervision and be collaborative in dealing with fellow employees. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with customers by being customer focused and responding promptly to customer needs. Ability to work as part of an integrated maintenance team on a flexible schedule enabling maintenance and repair activities to be conducted outside of core airport operating hours as required. Ability to obtain a Transport Canada security clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain an Airside Vehicle Operators Permit. Logical, intuitive, systematic problem solver with attention to detail. Knowledge of First Aid and CPR. C.
