Description: As an Intermediate Structural Engineer, you will support projects that span multiple disciplines within our organization in order to deliver high quality and sustainable solutions to our clients. Your experience in the industry and/or consulting, as well as your project and people skills will enable you to make a difference in our industry and inspire new and better ways to implement engineering and water management solutions. Responsibilities: Prepare structural engineering designs from conceptual design through to detail design, tender and construction in accordance with Canadian Codes and Standards. Perform site visits, inspections, and preparation of reports relating to existing and new structures. Perform evaluation and analysis of existing structures for modifications and additions, and propose reinforcement solutions. Foster critical relationships with clients, technical and non-technical staff, government representatives, and technology suppliers. Establish cost and schedule for project deliverables. Interface with other departments to develop and implement multi-disciplinary project strategies. Work from schematics, sketches, and verbal instructions. Assist other designers and other disciplines with project deliverables. Position Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Structural engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution. 6+ years of design experience for industrial projects in the mining and energy sectors. Registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) and/or Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Requirements: Thorough understanding of the design of structural steel, concrete, masonry, and timber. Proficiency in application of Canadian Codes and Standards. Proficiency in structural engineering analysis and design software such as STAAD, SFRAME, ETABS or SAP2000, and Microsoft Office products. Expertise in non-linear time history analysis would be considered an asset. Excellent English communication skills, and experience in preparing and reviewing technical reports. Legally able to work in Canada.
