Job descriptionBA Blacktop Ltd. is is currently seeking a team-oriented, self-motivated, and dedicated individual to join our Operation team as a Project Superintendent.The Project Superintendent is responsible for the planning, scheduling, and execution of construction operations. This role ensures that projects are built in alignment with the company’s safety standards, contract requirements, and budget constraints, meeting both customer schedules and the established plans and specifications.KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESSafety ManagementPrepare and submit Notice of Project; participate in hazard and First Aid assessments with the Safety Department.Collaborate on job-specific safety procedures; communicate hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.Verify that all personnel and subcontractors complete orientation and maintain clean, hazard-free work sites.Investigate incidents thoroughly, and ensure vehicle and equipment maintenance standards are followed.Lead by example, upholding all safety practices.Project Planning and CoordinationReview contract scope, plans, and specifications, ensuring budget alignment with the estimator and project manager.Coordinate crew, equipment, and scheduling needs with Construction Manager and subcontractors.Prepare a three-week look-ahead schedule and update as necessary; communicate regularly with customers and document all communications.Ensure required permits and approvals are in place and that project schedules are met through effective coordination and planning.Financial ManagementReview, track, and update project costs and budgets in Kheops.Coordinate project billing, verifying accuracy with project managers and clerks, and ensure timelysubmission of monthly invoices.Monitor job cost codes and proactively address budget variances, providing updates to project managers and estimators.Site Supervision and Quality AssuranceOversee foreman and site activities, ensuring daily needs for equipment, materials, and subcontractors are met.Ensure quality standards are achieved and address any deficiencies promptly, reporting as required through the NCR or OFI proTraining and DevelopmentGuide and develop team members; ensure specific task training is completed before job execution.Equipment OversightSchedule and manage equipment needs with the Construction Manager; ensure operators follow maintenance and inspection procedures.Communicate equipment breakdowns promptly to the equipment department.Reporting and Record KeepingCollect and review Daily Quantity Reports and Extra Work Orders, integrating data into Papyrus within a 48-hour window.Document site activities, conversations, and updates consistently in a project diary for comprehensive record-keeping.QUALIFICATIONS Essential QualificationsMinimum of 5 years experience in construction management, roadbuilding, or a related fieldSelf-motivated, detail-oriented, and goal-driven individual with strong organizational skills.Proven leadership abilities with excellent communication skills, both within the team and with clients and the public.In-depth and growing knowledge of road construction processes and specifications (MoTI, MMCD, municipal standards, TCM for Work on Roadways).Ability to read and interpret site plans/blueprints and specifications, with a solid understanding of contract documents.Strong composure and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations.Proficient in computer applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, MS Project, Kheops, and Intelex.Skilled in measuring and verifying project quantities.A proactive learner and mentor, committed to supporting team development and project success.Completion of the Public Works Course (BCIT) or related certificationConstruction Management coursework or certificationDiploma or degree in Civil EngineeringRegistration with ASTTBC (Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC) Desirable QualificationsCompletion of the Public Works Course (BCIT) or related certificationConstruction Management coursework or certificationDiploma or degree in Civil EngineeringRegistration with ASTTBC (Applied Science Technologists & Technicians of BC)Pourquoi nous rejoindre ?Competitive, experience‑based salary with annual pay reviewsExtended health benefitsRRSP matching up to 5% of base salary per yearEmployee Stock Ownership Program – become a Vinci Construction group shareholderCompany vehicle provided3 weeks paid vacation starting Day 1 + paid holiday shutdownMilestone awards to celebrate your achievementsEmployee referral bonuses up to $2,000Full training catalogue to support long‑term career growthMaternity Leave Top‑Up (SUB Plan)Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for 24/7 personal supportFriday office snacksFamily‑friendly company events throughout the yearFree on‑site parkingLocationOffice in Port Kells (Surrey, BC) with projects across the Fraser Valley Area.Salary position based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and professional background.
