Job Summary

Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Assistant Superintendent provides support in maintaining the construction budget and schedule while coordinating project activities with site staff, subcontractors, and suppliers and ensuring the project complies with the company’s quality standards, safety protocols, and WorkSafe BC regulations.

**Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for supporting the production and quality of assigned projects.
- Support the Site Superintendent in preparing, implementing, and monitoring all trades and construction activities for the assigned project.
- Review and understand the Construction Contracts for the assigned site. Enforce contract objectives according to the Scopes as instructed by the Site Superintendent and Project Manager.
- Work together with the Site Superintendent to help maintain the project budget.
- Promptly communicate with the Site Superintendent regarding any site work that may impact the Budget.
- Track time and material costs and regularly check with the Site Superintendent and Project Manager on budget management.
- Promptly review and communicate any RFIs and CCOs that arise from trade communication, drawings, or lack of information.
- Document any back charges with photos and submit them to the Site Superintendent.
- Collaborate with the Site Superintendent and Project Manager to maintain the construction schedule.
- Attend weekly schedule reviews with the Site Superintendent and Project Manager and assist with the project's advancement in all stages, focusing on meeting established targets.
- Attend weekly trade meetings and provide input/backup when required.
- Oversee site personnel required for the successful execution of the assigned project at all stages.
- Assist the Site Superintendent with managing the electronic timecard system.
- Take daily photos to document the site's progress and upload the images to the designated folder.
- Coordinate all sub-trades on site to ensure they fulfill their responsibilities as outlined in their scope of work and according to the construction schedule.
- Assist with coordinating all site inspections and perform document control to ensure all reports are properly filed.
- Follow and enforce the company’s procedure to issue Purchase Orders to ensure all suppliers reference the PO on their invoices along with the correct company name for billing.
- Maintain site cleanliness according to the company standards and ensure proper documentation of this process is submitted to the Site Superintendent in a timely manner.
- Organize the delivery of materials and supplies to the site to ensure a smooth process.
- Implement quality control measures to uphold high work standards according to company policies and procedures.
- Monitor the project to ensure conformity with the building code requirements, specifications, and plans.
- Perform audits of trade layouts regularly.
- Promptly inform the Site Superintendent of any conflicts found within the plans or between the specifications and the drawings.
- Ensure up-to-date knowledge of all changes in construction drawings as the project progresses, and make sure that trades are following the required changes on site.
- Assist the Site Superintendent with keeping a set of working drawings, noting all changes for quick cross-reference.
- Site check important measurements as directed by the Site Superintendent.
- Keep an updated contact list of all trade foremen and review it regularly.
- Complete walkthroughs of units at the rough-in and finishing stages to ensure that the quality meets the company’s standards.
- Ensure the finish type of each unit is being constructed as listed in the specifications and drawings.
- Understand and ensure adherence to all required safety policies per the company’s safety manual.
- Attend the Superintendent meetings with the Work Safe BC rep. as required throughout the project.
- Supervise daily activities of the CSO and conduct daily site audits with the CSO to ensure workers’ safety compliance on-site.

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 5 years in the role of Assistant Superintendent.
- Post Secondary Education in Engineering, Technology or Trades Training would be considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of various sets of plans: Mechanical/Electrical/Structural, etc.
- Great organizational, management and critical thinking skills.
- Effective communication skills in verbal and written forms
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Google Workspace, MS Word & Excel.

Pay: From $35.00 per hour
