Reporting to the Manager, Reservoir Lloydminster Conventional, the successful candidate will provide geological analysis, subsurface interpretations, recommendations, and technical work for all growth opportunities within the Lloydminster Conventional Business Unit. The Successful Candidate Will:Perform reservoir characterization, focusing on depositional environments and rock composition to support risk analysis and optimize well designDevelop comprehensive mapping suites for evaluated projects, including structural maps, net reservoir, net pay, and hydrocarbon pore volume, integrating seismic interpretation where applicable, to generate and verify drill locations and development opportunitiesIntegrate all available subsurface data to assess reservoir properties such as clay content, cohesiveness, and shear strengthDetailed log analysis for reservoir mapping and volumetricsCollaborate with the Growth Development Engineer to design development plans that maximize value from identified growth opportunitiesCollaborate with the Business Development team on acquisition opportunities as requiredEvaluate internal opportunities and industry land sale postings to identify potential growth projects.Participate in developing and derisking plays; initial delineation to full asset development planning.Provide oversight for drilling operations when necessary to ensure technical integrity and alignment with development objectivesReview, analysis and update offsetting competitor activityQualifications Include:10+ years of experience working with conventional heavy oil propertiesProven ability in regional mapping, prospect generation, and geological risk assessmentStrong understanding of clastic sedimentologyStrong understanding of Mannville formation deposition and basin controls within the WCSB Heavy Oil BeltProficiency in Geoscout, Geographix, and StarSteer softwareDemonstrated capability to integrate cross-disciplinary data, including geophysics and production, into geological interpretationsHighly collaborative, with excellent interpersonal and communication skillsEducation and Experience:B.Sc. in GeologyAPEGA member in good standing.10-15 years of experience.Work Environment:Based at our head office in downtown Calgary.Great things aren’t done by one person, they’re done by a team.Strathcona is committed to developing a high-performance culture through collaboration, trust, and agility.
