Here's how a Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Supervisor for our Ottawa office contributes to our team:ResponsibilitiesDevelops, implements and supports project HSE plans, regulatory requirements, and safe work practices.Implements corporate and district HSE communication strategies and initiatives on projects. Recognizes, evaluates, and advises on hazard identification and assists in the development of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for high risk activity. Leads and conducts project HSE inspections and monitors the quality and effectiveness of inspections and subcontractor safety plans. Monitors and evaluates efficiency of the project emergency response plan, site-specific security requirements and the environmental plan. Monitors and audits subcontractor HSE performance. Participates in investigations and monitors implementation of corrective actions for effectiveness. Develops and maintains positive relationships with all stakeholders. Coaches, trains and mentors HSE Coordinators and other employees.Identifies, evaluates, develops and delivers project specific HSE training. QualificationsPost-secondary certificate, bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field. Holds safety designation (ie. CSO, NCSO, GSC, CRSP, NEBOSH, etc.) Minimum 5 years’ experience in a health and safety role in a related industry. Previous experience in a supervisory role an asset. Solid understanding of applicable OH&S and environmental legislation and HSE processes. Conflict resolution skills, with the ability to problem-solve. Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills. Ability to develop, influence, and maintain effective stakeholder relationships. Strong working knowledge of construction processes and terminology.
