Visit us today and check out www.novascotia.com to see why more people from across the globe are moving here.About the OpportunityThe Medical Laboratory Technologist C (MLT-C) is responsible (in collaboration with key partnerships) for the assessment, implementation, planning, evaluation, and supportive application of existing and new clinical knowledge and the translation of knowledge to practice. The prime focus of the MLT-C is to coordinate, support, maintain and deliver competency training (with a focus in Hematology) based on laboratory SOPs and policies in partnership with curriculum leads (Departments/Divisions of Faculty of Medicine, other Clinical Educators) via classroom, procedural skill/task training, simulation learning, clinical learning, and/or online learning strategies, while advancing practice. The MLT-C practices according to the Registered Health Professionals Network Act, and in accordance with profession specific acts/legislation, their professional regulatory body and in accordance with Standards of Practice.The MLT-C demonstrates competency in practice, program design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of education, leadership, and professional practice. They exhibit the knowledge, attitudes and behaviors that align with the Interprofessional Practice and Learning Framework. This framework is grounded in theories of adult and concept-based learning, practice development, fundamentals of care and collaborative learning and practice.Please note this position requires periodic travel to facilities within Nova Scotia. A valid driver’s license and access to transportation is required.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following: Graduate from an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technology requiredThree years’ related experience requiredCurrent registration with CSMLS and NSCMLT requiredMust have experience in the discipline of Hematology and experiences in the core disciplines considered an asset (these include: Clinical Chemistry, and Transfusion Science)Certification in Simulation Specialist or Simulation Educator programs (i.e., CHSOS, CHSE, SLIIC) an assetLeadership Development Education an assetAdult Education Program an assetMust be able to recognize abnormal situations and respond appropriatelyIn depth knowledge and experience with Meditech is essentialPrevious experience with Blood Collection is an assetMust have demonstrated strong customer service skills; leadership skills; excellent organization and technical skills; as well as good decision-making skillsAbility to communicate effectively and professionallyExperience with Microsoft office Excel an assetCompetencies in other languages an asset, French preferredPLEASE NOTE: Applicants will be screened on the above qualifications.
