Visit us at www.novascotia.com to see why more people are moving here.About The OpportunityThe Medical Laboratory Technologist C (MLT-C) is responsible, in collaboration with key partnerships, for the assessment, implementation, planning, evaluation, and translation of existing and new clinical knowledge to practice. The prime focus is to coordinate, support, maintain and deliver competency training (with a focus in Hematology) based on laboratory SOPs and policies in partnership with curriculum leads via classroom, procedural skill/task training, simulation learning, clinical learning, and online learning strategies, while advancing practice. The MLT-C practices according to the Registered Health Professionals Network Act, their professional regulatory body, and relevant standards of practice.The MLT-C demonstrates competency in practice, program design and implementation, monitoring and evaluation of education, leadership, and professional practice. They align with the Interprofessional Practice and Learning Framework, which is grounded in adult learning theory, practice development, fundamentals of care, and collaborative learning.Please note this position requires periodic travel to facilities within Nova Scotia. A valid driver’s license and access to transportation is required.About YouWe would love to hear from you if you have the following:Graduate from an approved program in Medical Laboratory Technology requiredThree years’ related experience requiredCurrent registration with CSMLS and NSCMLT requiredExperience in the discipline of Hematology; experiences in core disciplines (Clinical Chemistry, Transfusion Science) are an assetCertification in Simulation Specialist or Simulation Educator programs (e.g., CHSOS, CHSE, SLIIC) an assetLeadership Development Education an assetAdult Education Program an assetAbility to recognize abnormal situations and respond appropriatelyIn-depth knowledge and experience with Meditech is essentialPrevious experience with Blood Collection is an assetStrong customer service, leadership, organization, technical, and decision-making skillsAbility to communicate effectively and professionallyExperience with Microsoft Excel an assetCompetencies in other languages an asset; French preferredPLEASE NOTE: Applicants will be screened on the above qualifications.
