Role: Automation Controls Engineer Position Type: Full-Time Contract (40hrs/week) (Up to 44 hours) Contract Duration: 6 month Contract (possibility of Contract-to-Hire/Extension) Work Schedule: 8 hours/day (Mon-Fri) Location: 100% Onsite - Markham, Ontario, Canada Project Description • You will join a world-class team of engineers responsible for designing, building, and deploying client's in-house discrete and process automation equipment solutions for Optimus, cell manufacturing, energy, and vehicle general assembly. • "designing, building, and deploying client's in-house discrete and process automation equipment solutions for Optimus, cell manufacturing, energy, and vehicle general assembly. " Duties/Day to Day Overview A day-to-day for Controls in the design phase might involve: • Developing function blocks for new hardware in Siemens TIA Portal or designing new HMIs to interact with sequences they would have built. • They would also do bench tests or proof of principle tests in collaboration with mechanical engineering. • They might also be interfacing with the Electrical engineers on their project. • During commissioning, they might be leveraging virtual commissioning tools such as Process Simulate to test equipment virtually and finally supporting commissioning including IO checks and testing of their PLC or robot sequences on the real machine which will be in the Bay area. Top Requirements (Must haves) • Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent Majors in: Controls or Computer Control Systems, Mechatronic Engineering, Automation Engineering, etc.) or equivalent experience – Degree not a requirement if strong experience. • WinCC HMI must have, Ignition HMI nice to have. • Need a candidate with a strong functional safety background and a good understanding of safety devices and their implementation. • MUST HAVE exposure to industrial robots, PLCs, VFDs, and motor tuning and commissioning. • Profinet is a must have, EtherCAT is nice to have since we do have some projects with EtherCAT (Beckhoff). • NEED some experience in BOTH – SAT and FAT experience. • NEED Vision experience in Keyence XGX, Cognex InSight would be nice to have.
