Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for a Journeyman Commercial Truck and Transport Mechanic working from our Fort McMurray area of operations.Responsibilities: Interpret work orders, service manuals, and technical documentation Perform scheduled and unscheduled preventive maintenance and repairs Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic issues using visual inspections, operator input, test driving, and diagnostic tools Complete repairs or replace defective parts, components, or systems as required Test and inspect vehicles to ensure repairs meet manufacturer specifications and government regulations Communicate additional repair requirements to the supervisor in a timely manner Maintain accurate and complete maintenance and service records Assist with the training and mentorship of apprentices and other technicians as required Qualifications: Journeyman Heavy Equipment Technician – Truck and Transport Mechanic (Red Seal) Minimum 5 years of experience in the medium and/or heavy-duty commercial truck industry Valid driver’s license CSO or CSTS/OSSA or BSO certification Strong technical and product knowledge Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills Ability to manage high workloads in fast-paced and demanding environments Proven attention to detail and accuracy while multitasking Willingness to work in the Fort McMurray area and live in remote camps when required Ability to work a 20 days on / 10 days off rotational schedule (days and nights) Ability to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test Provincial Safety Inspection and CVIP certification considered an asset Additional Information: The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed.
