The Canadian Centre for Professional Legal Education (CPLED) is a non–profit organization that offers the Bar Admission Program in Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Nova Scotia, and in Fall 2026 will also offer the Bar admission program in British Columbia as well as well as other pre-call legal education. Students must article and complete CPLED’s Bar Admission Program, the Practice Readiness Education Program (PREP), to be called to the Bar.CPLED is dedicated to helping students hone their practical skills and assesses how well they are able to apply their legal knowledge and skills in everyday situations. This helps ensure new lawyers are well-equipped to meet the demands of the workplace. CPLED maintains a high standard of programs and services for students to ensure a strong transition into the legal profession. The Content Assistant is a key member of the Content team and works closely with the team to deliver a wide range of materials, initiatives and processes. Success in this position requires excellent attention to detail combined with strong communication, word processing, teamwork, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills. Key Responsibilities: As a member of the Content team, you will: Perform general office duties, including word processing, electronic filing using a SharePoint system, document management, schedule management and preparation of written documents. Prepare, distribute, track, and follow up on internal and external correspondence. Develop and maintain tracking systems for daily/weekly/monthly work plan schedules for the Content team, including external contractors. Support the maintenance and updates to courses in D2L. Maintain bring-forward system for all Content team activity in accordance with timelines identified. Provide coverage and support to the Program Coordinators as required. Monitor department inboxes and triage, forwarding inquiries to other members of the Content team as necessary, or responding to candidate requests for information. Support the maintenance and updates to courses and other learning resources. Act as system administrator, superuser, and data steward on all department systems and SharePoint sites, as assigned. Prepare, format, proofread and edit correspondence, reports, presentations, spreadsheets, etc. and ensure accuracy, completeness and professional appearance. Independently develop correspondence to stakeholders and respond to their inquiries. Develop and maintain professional working relationships with staff, other departments, and internal and external stakeholders. Facilitate and monitor feedback surveys, preparing periodic reports for internal and external users. Act with expertise for efficiencies with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe. Develop and maintain templates. Produce agendas and minutes for meetings. Update and maintain training requirements, materials, and resources for lawyer contractors, track completion, and follow up on issues. Initiates collaboration across departments to ensure programs are delivered efficiently and effectively. Review and edit course materials and resources, as directed by members of the Content team. Assist with special projects and program implementation. Understand the impact of decisions. Additionally you will: Provide administrative assistance, support and collaboration with other departments and areas of the organization on an as-needed basis. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including identifying potential process improvements to administrative tasks. Utilize Co-Pilot and AI enabled features within CPLED software packages to expedite work processes where applicable. Ensuring all AI-generated content is thoroughly reviewed. Remain interested in and capable of growing to meet changes and additional challenges that may be added to this position over time. Complete other tasks as assigned. Timeliness: Commit to a deadline and meet those deadlines in a timely manner. Compassion: Treat internal and external customers with dignity and compassion and work with customers to find solutions within the guidelines of CPLED’s policies. Qualifications: Administrative Assistant or Legal Assistant diploma. Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a strong team environment. High level of professionalism; excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong communication (written and verbal), customer service, time management, organizational, listening, and telephone skills. Strong attention to detail is a must. Excellent knowledge of relevant computer applications such as Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint). Familiarity and skills in D2L and customer relationship management systems are considered an asset. Collaboration skills, with an ability to work with all individuals and groups. Self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision and to take on projects as required. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines under pressure. Current Hybrid Work Our current Hybrid work model requires staff to have in-person time in the office and work remotely on other days. Attendance in the office is mandatory on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for all staff unless it is an exemption day due to live student sessions or indicated by your Manager. Mondays and Fridays remain flexible, allowing you to work remotely. However, you are also welcome to work three, four, or five days in the office. We believe this hybrid model will provide staff with the best of both worlds and allow us to maintain strong connections, collaboration, and productivity.
