Come make an impact every day at Zebra.Serving as a key Software Program Manager for the Advanced Location Technologies (ALT) business unit, the Technical Program Manager, Advanced, is a senior technical leader who operates across all levels of the company. This role is pivotal in driving strategic software initiatives and product development, with a primary focus on championing and implementing new Agile software processes to enhance efficiency and innovation within the Business Unit. In close collaboration with Engineering and Product Management, this leader guides agile, cross-functional software teams from concept to deployment. Their responsibilities include defining software products, solidifying business cases, authoring product and experience specifications, and meeting complex program goals for software performance, quality, and delivery. This role is a hybrid position and requires a minimum of three days per week in the office. Your work location can be either Holtsville, NY or Mississauga, ON. Zebra reserves the right to modify your work location based on business need.Responsibilities:Drive execution of solutions, inclusive of concept definition, requirements validation, architecture specification, and governance compliance to our Application Lifecycle Management framework.Team leadership for Agile cross-functional innovation teams. Contribute to and promote the development of agile skillset and capabilities within Zebra. Execute multiple limited to moderate scope projects simultaneously or a large program utilizing cross functional teams in numerous locations and time zones. Apply modern project management methodologies to ensure maximum project effectiveness. Identify and mitigate risks; develop and implement risk mitigation plansPartner with Product Managers on priority and Agile scrum master (SM) or a release train engineer (RTE) to execute the development plan, control risk and mitigate challenges.Drive execution of solutions, inclusive of concept definition, requirements validation, architecture specification, and governance compliance to our Application Lifecycle Management framework.Leads system integration planning, release management, and planning for demonstrations, proof of concepts and pilots.Leads creating cross functional workstreams and driving execution for sales enablement, development and deployment.Independently building relationships and working across all relevant areas of the solution business, including Sales, Services, IT, Finance, Marketing, Product, Engineering, and Support.Works independently with the business in defining proof of value and customers’ return on investment.Organizes and presents business, technical, and program reviews/status to Senior Leadership using digital media, dashboards and JIRA agile project management toolsEnsures alignment with key leaders of milestone achievement before moving the program forward.Recognized as an "expert" in the business function and processes in which the program is operating.Motivate a project team to ensure solutions are reliable and of quality, in a highly collaborative fashion.Demonstrates the ability to see cross-functional impacts of decisions and project plans, and execution. Balances scope, schedul,e and budget considerations to adjust the project with minimal impact to the business. Understands the business objectives of the program and assumes personal accountability for the success of the program against those objectives. Independently coordinates deliverables and project assets to assist the project team. Personally, anticipates and addresses obstacles or issues that are moderate to significant in severity and escalates complex issues to management for assistance. Engages additional resources as needed to address obstacles or delays. Demonstrates advanced understanding of development processes and product launch scope and activities.No supervision by management is expected in this position for complex or novel problemsMay coach or act as an escalation point for Senior Program Managers or grades belowSupports early-stage go-to-market activities and transition to marketing.Develop and protect intellectual property; be well-versed with IP fundamentals.Explore and understand the competitive landscape in both product and business termsDefine strategic initiatives to align the business to agile product development. Work closely with Portfolio Management to ensure strategic goals align and are represented in the innovation feature roadmap. Assist in the development of business plans, strategies and approaches to take advantage of business opportunities.Initiate strategic partnerships with technology companies (including startups) that are developing adjacent new cutting-edge solution elements. Partner with Zebra Ventures to identify entities that add value to our business and solutionsTranslate customer problems into actionable solution requirements and motivate teams to deliver high-quality, reliable software that integrates seamlessly with hardware systems.Regularly report on budget management, adhere to applicable regulations and company financial best practices.Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications: BS Electrical Engineering or Computer Science degree, or related technical BS degree, with 8 + years of experience 5+ years Engineering/Program management and Scrum Master experience for products in fast paced environment. Strong understanding of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall), embedded firmware development, and release management. Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., JIRA, MS Project).Key Skills and Competencies:Strong strategic leadership and analytical skills. Solid critical thinking and questioning skillsExcellent written and oral communication skills. Ability to present technical and program information to diverse audiences.Self-motivated, results driven, manages risks, and thrives in an environment of uncertainty and continuous innovation. Able to drive definition and create solutions from skeleton use casesExperience working independently and as part of a team to solve difficult technical, quality, cost, and schedule challenges; well versed in risk management practicesPreferred Qualifications:Master’s degree preferred. Past responsibility for multiple significant delivered-to market solutions in asset intelligence (Location Services, Machine Learning, Machine Vision)Experience with software development best practices including Scaled Agile, TDD and Continuous Integration; a track record of applying these methodologiesExperience with Cloud development and Software/Services development integration, as well as mobile application development for Android or iOS.Experience applying Artificial Intelligence or Automation to simplify routine tasks.
