As a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto, it is also at the forefront of research and education, shaping the future of healthcare.Position Details: Position: Full-Time Security GuardSite: North York General Hospital FinchOvertime: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hoursHours: Continental Rotation - 0700-1900/1900-0700Payrate: $ 19.10/hourPosting Date: January 6, 2026Internal Closing Date: January 12, 2026External Closing Date: January 23, 2026Key responsibilities: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, entrances, etc. to ensure the safety and security of the site. Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities. Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas. Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations. Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures. De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally. Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately and complete reports on incidents. Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved. Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.
