Reporting to the Finance Manager of Operations for Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards, the Financial Analyst I play a foundational role within a finance department, assisting with various financial activities and analysis. You will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting financial data to provide insights and recommendations to management for informed decision-making. This entry-level position offers an opportunity to gain valuable experience in financial analysis and to contribute to the success of the organization. This role will interact regularly with senior finance professionals individuals and management in Engineering and other groups.Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 2 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.What you'll doAssist in the preparation of financial reports, including labour report and finance statements, Assist with annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasts for both operational overhead as well as chargeable project hours.Runs weekly labour reports, providing analytical commentary.Conduct variance analysis to identify key drivers of financial performance and to assess budgetary compliance.Assist in the development of financial models to evaluate business scenarios and to support strategic initiatives.Research cost variances against monthly spend, budget, and forecastsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to gather relevant data and to ensure alignment with financial objectives. Assist in the development and report of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)Performs additional ad hoc analyses and other duties as assignedWhat you'll bringBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or FinanceStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling techniques.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy.Ability to prioritize tasks and to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.Minimum of 2 years of accounting and financial analysis experience.Why you’ll love working hereThis role provides you a very competitive hourly wage in line with the successful candidate’s experience.
