The RGH ED Ortho Tech possesses knowledge unique to the orthopedic patient and performs a variety of highly specialized skills with supervision for this population and practices as a full scope LPN within the boundaries of the Emergency Department expectations. They demonstrate strong assessment skills, is able to critically think through a situation and prioritizes care based on these factors. The RGH ED Ortho Tech practices within the Patient and Family Centered Care model and is sensitive to the needs of patients and families.Description: As an Orthopaedic Technician (Ortho Tech), you will apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints and traction equipment utilized in the care of orthopaedic patients (clients, residents). You will observe, monitor, report and document changes in the patient's physical, mental and emotional state, while providing safe and effective, quality care. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Required Qualifications: Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).Additional Required Qualifications: Minimum one year full-time equivalent scope LPN experience in required. Registered Orthopedic Technologist certification required.Preferred Qualifications: Current Calgary Zone Emergency ROT position preferred, other Emergency/UC nursing experience will be considered.
