Training takes a full season. You will work closely with senior leaders to learn how to plan, run, and complete parking lot line marking projects safely, accurately, and on time.The first 5 months are a training and probation period. During this time, you will learn:Reading drawings and layoutsMeasuring and marking parking lotsRunning crews and keeping jobs productiveUsing and maintaining equipmentWorking with customersBasic scheduling and job trackingWhat You’ll DoRead drawings and turn them into accurate parking lot layoutsMeasure from curbs, buildings, and survey pointsChalk and review layouts before paint is appliedOperate and troubleshoot line painting and removal equipmentLead and support crew members on siteKeep jobs moving safely and efficientlyHandle basic customer questions and concerns on siteTrack completed jobs and provide job details to the officeFollow all safety rules and company procedures5-Month Training & Performance ExpectationsBy the end of the first 5 months, you should be able to:Layout & MarkingAccurately transfer drawings to the groundMeasure and mark parking lots with minimal errorsReview and correct layouts before paintingEquipmentOperate Graco airless sprayers and Grindlazer equipmentIdentify common equipment issuesMake basic repairs or problem-solve in the fieldCrew LeadershipGive clear direction to the crewKeep work moving efficientlyAddress issues or conflicts earlyMotivate the crew to finish jobs correctly and on timeCustomer InteractionRepresent the company professionally on siteReceive positive customer feedbackHandle basic scheduling or service questionsAdministrationHelp schedule and reschedule jobsTrack completed work accuratelyProvide correct job details for invoicingComplete daily job records and required paperworkRequirementsWhat We’re Looking ForThis job is best suited for someone who:Has previous experience as a foreman, lead hand, or crew lead in a construction or trades environmentCommunicates clearly and respectfully with crew members, management, and customersYou need to have solid math skills and the ability to do mental math.Strong attention to detail Previous experience reading plans and familiarity with construction plans.Works well with others and helps the crew succeedTakes pride in quality work and getting the job done rightIs open to feedback and willing to continue learningCan stay calm, organized, and focused on busy job sitesIs comfortable working outdoors and performing physical workYou must hold a current BC Drivers Licence.You must be able to drive to our Port Coquitlam office - there are NO Transit routes to our location. From there we assign/you will help assign crews for work in the morning. You will drive a company vehical to the worksites.BenefitsCompensation$37.00 per hourOvertime and double time paid according to the collective agreementPaid every 2 weeksWinter Pay ProgramApplies from early December for 9 pay periods80 hours of regular time per pay period will be made availableOvertime and double time count toward regular time equivalentsSchedule set by company managementVacation weeks are excluded from this programVacation & Benefits12% vacation pay on gross wages4 weeks winter vacation2 weeks over Christmas (dates vary yearly)2 weeks scheduled with managementUnion benefits through IUPAT DC 38Company cell phone and plan provided for work useUnion InformationThis position is subject to the applicable collective agreement, along with all company policies and procedures.
