What will you work on? This position practices in accordance with professional standards as outlined by the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). The position provides clinical audiology services including screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and consultation for assigned clients/target populations; provides work direction to Audiometric Technician (s); provides consultative and educational services to clients and the community; collegially shares and/or demonstrates work methods and processes with others as required.1. Delivers programs in accordance with established policies procedures and guidelines by performing duties such as: selecting the most effective method for identification of individuals with communicative disabilities within the target population to meet the needs of that population; preparing reports as required/directed;  participating in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of identification audiometry and hearing conservation programs for neonates, preschool and school children 0-19 years of age;  providing consultation to school programs for education of children who are deaf/hard of hearing;  maintaining inventory control and records for all assets and revenues for the Audiology and Hearing Aid Program; and maintaining client and program statistics and data as required/directed.2. Provides clinical best practice auditory services by performing duties such as:  assessing, evaluating, and monitoring the status and function of the peripheral and central auditory nervous systems; identifying hearing loss and hearing disorders; and loci of disorder;  performing audiological screening and diagnostic (re)assessments for clients; adapting assessment/test procedures to suit the physical and/or mental capacity of the client;  interpreting audiological assessment/screening test results;  recording all findings from service delivery activities on prescribed health service forms; within client file and electronic data systems;  developing and providing appropriate auditory (re) habilitative treatment plan for clients;  analyzing, evaluating, selecting, verifying, fitting, selling hearing devices, e.g. hearing aids, FM and ALD’s; providing on-going monitoring/maintenance of these devices; providing counseling/education information to clients/family, other case providers on audiological assessment results, diagnosis, (re) habilitation plan; and other services for deaf and hard of hearing; generating referrals to other health care professionals and/or service agencies e.g. medical, intervention programs, etc.; Referring more difficult audiology cases requiring service not available locally to regional diagnostic center; and Maintaining operating condition of audiological equipment through biological monitoring and calibration procedures; initiating appropriate repair procedures when needed.3. Provides work direction to Audiometric Technician(s) as required by performing duties such as: provides guidance and directing work; ensures quality and quantity standards are met; provides orientation and ongoing training in new developments/techniques; participates in selection interviews;  provides performance input to the Professional Practice Leader for the audiometric technician (s)  tracks applicable expenses and costs associated with own work and provides feedback to the Professional Practice Leader with regards to budget processes by identifying needs and making recommendations.4. Serves the community and other staff professionals as advisor, consultant, educator by performing duties such as:  interpreting the Audiology Program to other agencies in the community; assisting associated professionals in understanding the scope of the program; informing the community of services offered and the importance of prevention, early identification and intervention; provides work direction and guidance to associated professionals in hearing screening techniques; and instructing supervising and evaluating students during clinical placements.5. Identifies, promotes and supports opportunities for interdisciplinary practice by liaising with other Prevention Services staff, other health care sectors and community partners.6. Participates on committees to promote optimal support for clients, to facilitate the resolution of issues, and to advocate for the goals and objectives of the team/program.7. Participates in approved audiology and interdisciplinary research and special projects in collaboration with designated personnel/team and other health care professionals, through methods such as collecting data, summarizing information, and/or providing verbal updates for review and further analysis by principal researcher, research team and/or project coordinator. 8. Participates on committees as directed to promote formulation, implementation and evaluation of Continuous Quality Improvement initiatives and align with accreditation standards. Contributes to the development and revision of standards of care, policies, and procedures; participates in the resolution of issues; and advocates for improvements in clinical practice and health care that promote optimal support for patients. 9. Applies an evidence-based approach to clinical problem solving through methods such as reviewing relevant literature/resources and applying approved research findings in clinical practice to support the research culture of the organization. Evaluates results in collaboration with interdisciplinary team.10. Maintains and updates own clinical knowledge within area of practice, and develops a plan in collaboration with designated personnel/team for professional development. Reviews progress to ensure that goals are achieved within established time frames.11. Performs other related duties as assigned.Where are we located?
