Join Hall Mechanical as an Estimator As a Mechanical Estimator, you will play a key role in supporting our team to deliver accurate and competitive bids. You’ll lead a team in all aspects of the estimating process, analyzing drawings and specifications, preparing quantity takeoffs, issuing RFQs, coordinating with vendors, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. This position requires strong leadership skills, effective estimating strategies, attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across a variety of construction projects. Your day-to-day will look like: Collaborate with executives and project managers to align estimates with company goals. Analyze tender documents, drawings, and specifications to fully understand project scope and identify potential risks. Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and material/labour cost estimates using Trimble Accubid. Develop Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Bills of Materials (BOM), and scopes of work to support estimating accuracy. Issue RFQs, evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing, and compile bid submissions. Monitor and update cost databases, historical pricing, and vendor lists. Participate in project handoff meetings and post-bid reviews to support continuous improvement. Identify value engineering opportunities and recommend cost-saving strategies without compromising quality or schedule. Maintain strong, professional relationships with clients, suppliers, and project team members. You have the following qualifications, technical and interpersonal skills: Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of experience in mechanical estimating or a combined estimating/project management role. Strong written and verbal communication skills Proven experience with civil infrastructure or large-scale residential/commercial construction projects. Post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; equivalent hands-on experience may be considered. Valid Class 5 Driver’s License. The following are considered an asset: Experience working on high-rise, institutional, or complex mechanical system projects Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, or other design/modeling software. Red Seal Plumbing or HVAC certification. Technical Skills: Proficient in Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). Experience with quantity takeoffs, change order estimating, and labour/equipment costing. Familiarity with reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and construction documentation. Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Revit, or AutoCAD considered an asset. Interpersonal Skills: Thrives in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organization and problem-solving abilities. Able to work independently while being a reliable and collaborative team player.
