RFP 25-173 – Senior Project Manager (Nuclear Projects)Location: Pickering, OntarioWork Arrangement: On-site / Field-based as requiredJob OverviewThe Senior Project Manager (Nuclear Projects) is responsible for the full lifecycle management of assigned nuclear generation projects and/or project work packages, from initiation through closeout, in accordance with established Project Management governance. This role provides leadership, coordination, and control across all project phases to ensure delivery of project objectives related to safety, quality, scope, schedule, cost, and regulatory compliance.The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience executing complex projects within nuclear generation or similar heavy industrial environments. Experience as a Maintenance Team Leader (MTL) or Field Team Leader (FTL), along with exposure to Fuel Handling, Reactor Maintenance, Fuel Channels, or refurbishment activities at Pickering, Darlington, or Bruce Power, is considered a strong asset.Key ResponsibilitiesPlan, organize, coordinate, and control all phases of assigned projects or project packages, from initiation through closeout, in alignment with corporate Project Management governance.Apply approved project management processes related to scope, schedule, cost, estimating, risk, change control, communications, integration, and reporting.Manage project execution to ensure objectives and commitments are delivered within established safety, quality, budget, and schedule targets.Contribute to the preparation of project background documentation, scope reviews, constructability reviews, and Business Case Submissions for senior management, Executive Office, and Board approval.Review, accept, and manage project charters, work breakdown structures (WBS), estimates, schedules, risk management plans, and project management plans.Coordinate internal and external approvals, permits, licenses, and regulatory requirements necessary for project execution.Lead the development of contracting strategies, specifications, bid packages, tender evaluations, and purchasing recommendations.Chair and facilitate meetings with designers, suppliers, contractors, operations, and internal stakeholders to coordinate requirements and monitor progress.Monitor and control project cost and schedule performance, review variance reports, recommend corrective actions, and manage approved changes.Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks throughout all phases of execution.Ensure effective contract management across all stages of procurement and execution.Maintain clear, timely communication with internal stakeholders, contractors, vendors, regulatory bodies, and external agencies.Coordinate project turnover activities, ensure completion of documentation, and track resolution of outstanding deficiencies.Support site visits to generating stations, manufacturers, and suppliers in Canada and internationally as required.Maintain awareness of industry best practices, technological advancements, and corporate procedures related to project management, construction, and nuclear operations.Where required, provide functional supervision, including planning work activities, assigning tasks, and reviewing completed work.QualificationsCompletion of a four (4) year university degree in an appropriate discipline such as Applied Sciences, Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.Equivalent combinations of education and progressively responsible experience will be considered.Skills and Experience6 to 8 years of progressively responsible project management experience managing complex, multi-stakeholder projects.Demonstrated experience in:Developing project scopes, estimates, schedules, and execution plansManaging projects through execution and closeout phasesContracting strategies, RFPs, bid evaluations, and contract managementManaging competing priorities of scope, schedule, cost, quality, and safetyStrong working knowledge of:Nuclear or heavy industrial environmentsConstruction methods, codes, standards, quality assurance, and health & safetyCost accounting, forecasting, and project controlsRisk management and change managementProven leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and external partners.Experience with Fuel Handling systems, equipment reliability, and engineering change control processes as an MTL is considered an asset.Familiarity with OPG project management processes, project controls, and work management systems is an asset.Spirit Omega is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
