ABOUT THIS CAREER OPPORTUNITY If you are a technical and hands-on professional searching for the opportunity to build a solid foundation for your career, this position is for you. The Class B Refrigeration Operator opportunity work with-in Whitby and Vaughan locations and reports to the Chief Operator. The position requires continental shifts, roving between the two sites, thus candidates must have open and flexible availability. The 3rd Class Stationary Engineer will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities: Experience within a TSSA-regulated ammonia plantOperate air compressors, chillers, water towers, water softeners, air dryers, pumps, and fansChiller maintenance including cooling towers and associated equipmentExtensive experience on HVAC/R systemsResponsible for the safe operation of the refrigeration plantPerform all tasks related to the safe and efficient operation of the plant including repairs and maintenancePerform routine inspection and testing of equipment and building infrastructure to ensure proper operationPerform minor repair and general maintenance duties associated with building systemsDocument air compressor readings, all plant steam produced and consumption and gas consumption; supply gas forecasts to gas supplierTrack and log all gas, water, and hydro readingsMonitor and maintain water treatment for chillers and cooling towersFamiliar with CMM and preventative maintenance programsProvide access and assistance to sub-trades as required EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Must possess a 3rd Class Power Engineer certificate or higher or “A” or “B” Refrigeration Operator class certificate WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Must have experience working as an operator in an ammonia plant SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Must be able to work 3:30-3:30 and 5:00-5:00 on a continental rotational shift Must be able to work in both locations in Vaughan and WhitbyStrong troubleshooting and interpersonal skillsBending and lifting required; lifting under 30 kgAbility to climb stairs and work on a ladder or scaffold as requiredGood computer skillsGood oral and written communication skillsProvide vacation coverage for other operatorsMust be able to successfully obtain and maintain necessary security clearances Black & McDonald welcomes and encourages applications from persons with disabilities.Accommodations are available upon request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the recruitment and selection process. #LI-RM1
