Be our next Intermediate Structural Engineer Your work environment at EXP EXP is currently looking for an Intermediate Structural Engineer to join our Central Canada Buildings Group in Markham, Ontario. There will be an opportunity for Hybrid working arrangements with time split between home and office. While there is an opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects the primary focus of this position is to assist our design team with structural design for residential, commercial, industrial and institutional projects.  What a day at EXP has in store for you Primarily assist with the design of steel structures, but be familiar with concrete, masonry and timber construction.  Assist with analysis of existing structures for changes in loading or proposed alterations, and design reinforcing when required Prepare design sketches for drafting by others and assist with development and coordination of structural drawings and specifications Work with other senior and/or junior engineers collaboratively Participate in design meetings with owner, architect and other consultants Participate in construction site meetings Conduct site visits during construction to review work for general compliance to structural drawings and contract documents Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders Assist in the preparation of proposals and bids for new projects What your experience looks like Degree in Structural Engineering from a recognized university P. Eng. Licence Preferably 5 to 10 years’ experience in structural engineering with a focus on structural analysis and design. Experience with NBCC, CSA and OBC standards Field experience on construction sites, conducting general reviews for compliance with drawings and specifications, and writing site reports Experience with Etabs, SAFE, SAP and other similar Structural design software. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Proven ability to build and maintain client relationships Team player with the proven ability to work independently with minimum direction Hard worker, who is eager and willing to assume responsibility Commitment and dedication to client service as well as technical excellence Demonstrated and effective communication skills and the ability to handle changing needs while working effectively with diverse groups Strategic thinker with the ability to determine what work is required and draw rational conclusions from all available information Valid driver’s license is a requirement.  EXP subscribes to the Workplace Equity Program.
