Who are we looking for? Our Tunnel Group and Rail and Transit Group are growing, and looking for an Intermediate Tunnel Engineer to join us in Mississauga or Markham, ON. You will play a key role in a variety of tunnel engineering projects. The Tunnel Group works on tunnelling projects for large diameter subway transit lines in GTA, municipal projects in Ontario, pursuits in Vancouver, and subway lines in Australia. Responsibilities Assist with project work within GHD’s Rail and Transportation business and support other tunnelling projects across Canada or internationally. Respond to technical and administrative tasks related to tunnels and stations. Conduct analysis for tunnel liners and shaft design using PLAXIS, FLAC, Rocscience, etc. Prepare tunnel reports for proposals. Attend client meetings with supervisors. Skills and Competencies Experience in tunnel design and construction teams. Designing large diameter tunnels (6m+). Design of deep shaft & shoring structures. Experience with soft ground tunnelling and transit underground support. Proficiency with geotechnical software (PLAXIS, FLAC, Rocscience). Knowledge of tunnelling methods, logistics, and equipment. Experience with TBMs, precast linings, ground treatment, and ground freezing. Ability to prepare specifications and cost estimates. Strong technical writing and teamwork skills. Qualifications Degree in geotechnical, geological, or civil engineering (Master's preferred). Professional status (e.g., P.Eng) or working towards it. At least 4 years of experience in tunnel and underground projects. Valid Ontario Driver’s License (G).
