Calgary, Canada Equation Staffing Solutions Full time

Our client, a growing local company located in southeast Calgary, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accountant for a temporary part-time position (1–3 months). This is an excellent opportunity to join a business with a close-knit, family-oriented culture and play a key role in transitioning their accounting records to QuickBooks Online. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter and problem solver, comfortable working independently to assess current processes, streamline workflows, and ensure accurate and efficient data migration. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys hands-on accounting work in a supportive, community-driven environment while contributing to the company’s continued growth. Key Responsibilities:Perform general accounting duties, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close activities.Prepare and analyze financial reports and summaries.Reconcile general ledger accounts and assist with maintaining accurate financial records.Support the accounts payable process, including invoice review and payment processing (as needed)Assist with accruals, intercompany entries, and variance analysis.Maintain and ensure the accuracy of data in accounting systems, including QuickBooks Online.Monitor and reconcile bank accounts and credit card transactions.Collaborate across departments to gather financial data and improve reporting accuracy.Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including the adoption of new tools and accounting processes.Qualifications:Post Secondary Education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.2–4 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally in an owner operated environment.Solid understanding of accounting principles and month-end processes.Experience with QuickBooks Online is a must.Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, formulas, data manipulation).Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and organizational skills.Effective communicator with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.A proactive mindset and openness to process improvement and automation.If you’re an experienced accounting professional looking for a flexible, short-term opportunity with a welcoming local team, we’d love to hear from you.
