The Opportunity Step into a pivotal leadership role where strategy, research excellence, and industry collaboration converge.As the Director, Strategic Planning, Impact and SRC, you will work with the Dean’s Office, Chairs, program leadership, faculty, and external partners to position The Creative School as a leader in creative education and innovation in Canada and globally. In this role, you will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and overall management of the Scholarship, Research, Creative (SRC) portfolio at The Creative School, in collaboration and consultation with the Associate Dean, Scholarship, Research, Creative Activities and Partnerships. Strengthens SRC activities through external and internal funding development, knowledge mobilization and industry/government/community partnership. The Director will leverage the SRC portfolio to lead strategic and faculty-wide planning and performance initiatives, including those related to recruitment, retention and impact. This position will also develop and evaluate outcome metrics to assess program effectiveness, inform strategic decision making, and support long term growth and sustainability in alignment with the School’s strategic plan and objectives.Key responsibilities:Strategic Planning and Faculty Innovation, working with Associate Dean SRC Activities and Partnerships to define, develop, and implement The Creative School’s multi-year strategic plans (e.g., local Academic Plan, Strategic Research Plan, Creating Futures Action Plan, 360 Roadmap), in collaboration with the senior leadership across the portfolio, ensuring alignment with the School’s strategic goals and objectives, standards and expectations, and with overall vision and mission and the strategic plans of TMU (e.g. Academic Plans, Strategic Mandate Agreement, etc).Responsible for reporting & data analysis by leading the monitoring and analysis of faculty performance indicators across strategic planning, research, and graduate studies to inform decision-making. Overseeing the development of annual reports, strategic dashboards, and updates for the Dean, Executive Director, and university leadership.Building partnerships with faculty and central communications teams to enhance the visibility of The Creative School’s strategic, research, and academic initiatives, including negotiating, coordinating, and renewing research affiliations with partners, institutions, community, and advising its recruitment strategy. Collaborating with senior leadership to encourage, expand, and support SRC, outreach and partnerships activities throughout The Creative School’s network.Collaborating with the Associate Dean, SRC Activities and Partnerships, other leadership teams and staff to ensure that members of the faculty are well supported in achieving goals that overlap with the initiatives or strategic objectives of The Creative School. This includes but not limited to cross-functional integration and collaboration in following sections:Promotes a positive culture in research units, advances community-engaged research or dissemination, and develops industry-engaged research initiatives.Promotes learners as researchers, and facilitates workshops on research, scholarly, creative, and innovation skills building for Undergraduate/Postgraduate (UG/PG) learners.Overseeing and ensuring the effective management of Strategic Planning, Impact and SRC activities, including the direct supervision of the Associate Director, so that their full potential is actualized and their knowledge and skills are constantly updated. Assessing training needs and participating in the development of specific plans in consultation with managers and staff. Develops managers’ leadership capacity and actively promotes developmental opportunities for them.QualificationsTo help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications:Completion of Master’s degree in a creative discipline, English, or in a related field is required.A minimum of five (5) years of progressively increasing leadership experience conceptualizing, planning, implementing and directing innovative programming in academic research, scholarship, and innovation, in a post-secondary education setting, to include assuming leadership roles in significant projects or programs.Proven track record of successful leadership and management of large-scale research and innovation programs.Significant experience in securing and managing external research funding, including grants, contracts, and philanthropic donations.Demonstrated experience and commitment to applying EDI, decolonization and accessibility principles in practice, and demonstrated track record of success in implementing equity initiatives that lead to specific outcomes that result in change.Experience working with and building relationships with multi-sectoral stakeholders.Strong strategic planning and project management skills, with financial and budgetary acumen.Deep knowledge of academic research funding and knowledge mobilization.Excellent written and verbal communication, including policy writing, reporting, and presentations.Strong relationship-building skills with industry, government, and community partners.Knowledge of best practices related to strategic program planning and implementation.Equivalent experience or a combination of equivalent experience and education may be accepted in place of education.
