Join North York General to accelerate your career Position Summary Laboratory Technician , HistopathologyPerforms laboratory procedures in accordance with departmental and divisional policies. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and families. On a practical level, you will Assist pathologists and pathologists’ assistant at gross bench.Set up and clean equipment.Stain and coverslip.Change reagents and maintain supplies.Perform accessioning, sorting, filing and organizing histopathology specimens.Perform other duties as required. Qualifications Graduate of Laboratory Technician program.MLPAO certification.Experience in histology laboratory is preferred.Basic knowledge and ability to perform assigned tasks.Ability to communicate effectively in written and oral English.Ability to organize and prioritize workload, flexible to schedule changes.Bilingualism in French/English is an asset What We Offer Working at NYGH means working with a dynamic team of fellow healthcare providers, staff, and volunteers in one of Canada’s leading hospitals.This is a Full-Time Temporary position of 12 months with 8-hour shifts, Days, Weekends,Nights and Evenings in the Labortary Medicine, Anatomical Path-Histology unit.We offer a highly competitive total compensation package which may include benefits, pension, vacation pay, or pay in lieu of benefits, when applicable.
