Maintain function and safety of Bike Valet stand on Bernard Ave. Interact with public. Accept and store bikes in the provided racks, monitor and track usage, create reports on usage.Employment Dates: Early May through to late AugustHours of Work: Bike Valet shift – 10:45am – 7:15pm Mon-Friday, Parks Ambassador shift 930am – 5:30pm Thursday – Monday (adjusted an hour +/- depending upon month) Duties - Union Set up and maintain the bike valet area on Mill Street and Bernard Avenue Patrols all City of Kelowna beaches to report damage, vandalism, unwanted activity and dog issues Public relations and interaction with park users, event groups and other staff Supporting the Bike Valet program Works with Parks Community Relations Coordinator to monitor events and sporting activities Rakes the beaches and reports maintenance issues Performs litter removal Results and Activities - Non union Credentials - Union Excellent customer service skills Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s License Able to work with groups of people and work alone using the buddy system Ability to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and rain and perform physical labour which includes walking, lifting, and maintenance work with a shovel and rake Ability to work weekends for duration of employment term Knowledge - Non Union Skills & Abilities - Non Union Competencies Posting Text Physical Demands Working outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat. Special Instructions to Applicant Student program eligibility requirements: You must be attending school, college or university during the last school term and returning to your studies in the subsequent academic year. VERIFICATION WILL BE REQUIRED. Enrolment in a formal co-op program is not required. International students must be attending school full time, possess a valid study permit and may require a valid co-op work permit when applying for a co-op position. Please note that international students can only participate in co-op work terms for up to 50% of their total program of study (example: a 2 year diploma program is limited to two co-op work terms).
