Purpose of your Position - Non Union

Classification Summary - Union

Summer Students work in a variety of positions that support parks-related duties to maintain the City of Kelowna's Parks, Beaches during the summer season.

Duties - Union

These positions perform a variety of duties depending on the assignment, including:

  • Engagement with public
  • Shrub and lawn care maintenance
  • Litter control
  • Weeding
  • Raking
  • Shoveling
  • Mowing
  • Line painting

Employment Dates: Early May through to late August

Hours of Work: 7am-3:30pm or 6am – 2:30pm (may vary depending on assignment)

Days of Work: Monday to Friday (weekends may be required for some assignments)

Results and Activities - Non union

Credentials - Union

  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Valid BC Driver's License
  • Ability to work alone using the buddy system
  • Ability to work with groups of people
  • Horticulture experience and an interest in this field would be considered an asset.

Physical Demands

Outside work in all weather conditions including extreme heat. Lifting, pulling and carrying loads up to 50 lbs. Bending, twisting, standing and walking on uneven terrain.

Student Program Eligibility requirements: You must be attending school, college or university during the last school term and returning to your studies in the subsequent academic year. VERIFICATION WILL BE REQUIRED.
