We have exciting opportunities for reliable Rail Car Repair Technician at our repair facility onsite at Shell Scotford. Job Summary: Principal duties in this position are including but not limited to: Car repairs involving cutting and welding (SMAW) on the rail body, including tank and/or hopper, and other car components Air Arc Gouging Preparing and maintaining documentation for completion of rail car repairs in compliance with regulatory standards Perform necessary repairs to Hopper, Tank railcars and their components, including interior linings, light and medium-duty mechanical repairs, coupler servicing, changing out loading valves, airbrake testing, rail car bubble leak testing, etc. Inbound rail car inspections as required Read, comprehend, and follow repair orders and procedures Other related duties as assigned This role requires the successful candidate to work a rotating 12-hour shifts. Requirements: Strong written and oral communication skills Strong mechanical background with competent and safe use of hand tools and power equipment Must be able to read and understand written work orders, material safety data sheets, complete work write-ups, and other paper and computer work Prior railcar repair experience or similar, and knowledge of AAR standards an asset Perform and document quality control checks as required by Company and regulatory quality standards Adhere to both customer site and Procor’s health and safety standards (including the Responsible Care policy), and wear the required personal protective equipment for the job in a safe manner Must be able to work in an environment with continuous exposure to outdoor weather conditions with dust, fumes, and noise The ability to work while wearing respiratory protection WHMIS training, experience dealing with hazardous commodities Must be able to climb, stoop, and bend repeatedly, carry hand and power tools. Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, around machinery, and in conditions where there are loud noises and fumes Confined space entry to repair hopper car linings Detail-oriented and committed to quality Excellent time management skills The ability to work independently or within a team Demonstrate a strong initiative and a positive proactive approach at all times Valid driver’s license required and reliable transportation to get to and from work All applicants are required to complete and pass our full medical testing upon hire.
