Job DescriptionProject Director – Civil Infrastructure ConstructionLocation: Greater Vancouver AreaFull-Time | PermanentSalary: $180,000–$200,000 + Bonus + Benefits + Vehicle AllowanceAbout the Company:Our client is a highly respected national civil contractor delivering municipal infrastructure, transit, roads, bridges, subway, light rail transit, large highway, and large-scale excavation projects. With a strong track record of success and a reputation for quality and reliability, the company is seeking a Project Director to provide strategic leadership on high-value projects ($100 M +) while mentoring the next generation of project management talent.The Opportunity:The Project Director will be a senior leader responsible for overseeing the execution and financial performance of multiple large-scale civil projects. Reporting directly to the Senior Project Director and Vice President, this role requires a proven leader who can balance strategic oversight with hands-on involvement, while driving excellence in cost control, scheduling, risk management, and team development.Key Responsibilities:·       Provide executive-level leadership and direction across multiple civil infrastructure projects·       Mentor and develop project managers, coordinators, and site teams to build strong future leaders·       Oversee project planning, execution, and close-out to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery·       Lead client engagement, contract negotiations, and stakeholder management at the highest level·       Drive strong cost control measures and financial forecasting to maximize project profitability·       Implement proactive risk management strategies to mitigate delays, disputes, or cost overruns·       Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards across all projects·       Provide strategic reporting and project updates to senior company leadershipQualifications:·       15+ years of progressive experience in civil construction, including roads, bridges, rail, large highway and municipal infrastructure·       Proven track record leading large-scale projects ($100M+) or portfolios of multiple mid-sized projects·       Strong background in cost control, budgeting, and risk management at a senior leadership level·       Post-secondary degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field·       P.Eng., PMP, or similar professional designation considered an asset·       Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills with a focus on mentorship and team building·       Demonstrated ability to foster strong client, stakeholder, and municipal relationshipsWhat’s in it for you:·       Base salary $180,000–$250,000 plus annual performance bonus·       Comprehensive health, dental, and retirement benefits·       Company vehicle or allowance·       Executive-level role with significant influence on company growth and direction·       Opportunity to mentor, develop, and lead high-performing project teams·       Long-term stability with a leading civil contractorApply Now:If you are a seasoned civil construction leader with a passion for mentoring teams, driving project excellence, and delivering results through strong cost control and risk management, we want to hear from you. Apply in confidence to scott.anderson@canterragroup.net.RequirementsSKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Working with Estimating in project pursuits, including risk management, sub contract buy outs and proposals as needed Prepare and manage sub contractor contracts and hold backs for project milestones Monitor project status reports for performance in safety, cost forecasting, and scheduling Manage the financial performance of the projects including approval of change orders Managing project team, client representative, consultant and trade contractor relationships. Monitoring progress of the design, including compliance issues, quality, general coordination, constructability, and timing of deliverables. Thorough communication of potential opportunities and challenges, and managing client’s expectations through regular communication. QUALIFICATIONS: Post secondary education or training in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline. 10+ years heavy civil construction experience with at least 3 years in a Project Management role Experience in estimating civil and infrastructure projects preferred Experience managing heavy civil projects such as bridges, underground infrastructure, excavations and/or road construction Demonstrated experience implementing a strong safety culture by application of health, safety, and environment principles and legislation. In-depth knowledge of the construction industry including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, construction law and building codes, and safety and quality management practices. Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills including the ability to manage project budgets and schedules. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with clients, consultants and sub-contractors Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and project management and scheduling software,
