EXCLUDED ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR LOWER MAINLAND AREA OFFICEJOB ID: P0438 INTERNAL/EXTERNAL POSTINGJanuary 14, 2026 Job Title: Excluded Associate Director – Lower Mainland Area Office Classification: ES4 Job Summary: The Associate Director of Lower Mainland Area Office repots to the Executive Director of Field Services. The Associate Directoris responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Lower Mainland Area Office. This role ensures the delivery of effective, reliable, and sound services to the BCGEU membership. The Associate Director manages a share of support and servicing staff, coordinates projects, mentors staff, provides day-to-day support to both staff and BCGEU members and partners closely with the Regional Director to align operational initiatives with broader organizational objectives. Additionally, the Associate Director serves as the designate when the Director is unavailable and assists in overseeing all Lower Mainland Area Office projects. Key Responsibilities: 1. Team Leadership & Management Lead the Field Support Team in providing timely and high-quality administrative support to the staff representative in their Region. Assists with the Recruitment, mentorship, and ongoing development of Support Staff, providing guidance, performance evaluations, and professional growth opportunities. Assists with the Recruitment, mentorship, and ongoing development of Servicing Staff, providing guidance, mentoring, performance evaluations, and professional growth opportunities. Foster a positive, collaborative team culture aligned with BCGEU's values of respect, fairness, and inclusivity. Address performance issues through appropriate performance management processes and take corrective actions and apply disciplinary measures as needed. Act as the Director's designate in their absence, ensuring continuity of leadership and decision making for the department. 2. Operational Excellence Together with the Director, oversee the day-to-day operations of the Region Maintain and continuously improve ways to best serve the membership Track, analyze, and report on day-to-day operations, identify trends and root causes of issues with the view to enhance services and provide staff with tools to ensure best practices and reasoned outcomes. 3. Project Coordination Assist the Director to identify and create projects, ensure timelines are met, plan, prioritize, and allocate resources effectively. Prepare and present regular status reports highlighting progress, risks, and successes. Serve as a key point of contact for cross-functional teams to ensure and clear communication on deliverables. 4. Technology Strategy & Alignment Contribute to the development and refinement of existing and new tools to optimize service delivery. Assess and recommend new technologies, training, tools, or best practices to enhance service quality and efficiency. Ensure that Region initiatives align with the broader Union goals set forth by the Executive Director as identified in the Director's Mandate Letter. 5. Component Responsibilities Provide support, attend meetings and ensure the smooth administration of a BCGEU Component Attend Component Meetings as the President Delegate to ensure the Union's Policies and Procedures are being adhered to. Maintain positive team morale, low turnover, and strong professional development pathways. 2. Operational Reliability & Efficiency Ensure quick resolution of issues to enhance member services Continuously refine support processes to enhance productivity and member satisfaction. 3. Proactive Service Delivery & User Satisfaction Ensure staff have the knowledge and ability to assess grievance files and deliver assessments with confidence to the membership. Cultivate member driven bargaining committees to ensure members of any bargaining unit are heard through the bargaining process. Review membership training to ensure there is adequate access to training in each Area Office. 4. Project Coordination & Leadership Support Effectively fill in for the Director, as needed, ensuring minimal disruption in the Region. Deliver timely, accurate reports as required, helping the Director, and potential stakeholders make informed decisions. 5. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Maintain open, transparent communication with the Director, and other leaders, providing timely updates as required. Foster trust and credibility by setting realistic expectations, offering clear solutions, and keeping stakeholders informed. Education & Relevant Experience: Experience in a unionized or non-profit environment is an asset. Minimum 5 years of field services experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role. Ability to work independently and under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Commitment to social justice, equity, and the labor movement. Experience in strike preparation and high stakes bargaining scenarios. Familiarity with digital mobilization tools Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: Leadership & Team Building: Proven ability to build, motivate, and develop a high-performing team. Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of the labour movement and labour relations. Proven ability to accurate assess files, draft bargaining proposals, conduct ratification votes, review collective agreements, create accurate concise communications, and think outside the box for solutions that create a positive outcome for members. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to translate technical issues and solutions into clear, concise information for diverse audiences. Problem-Solving: Adept at diagnosing complex issues, identifying root causes, and implementing lasting solutions. Project Management: Capable of coordinating multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks effectively, and meeting deadlines. Member Service Orientation: Commitment to providing exemplary internal member support, demonstrated through responsiveness and user-centered service delivery. Adaptability: Comfortable navigating and leading in an evolving environment with a proactive approach. SALARY RANGE: Bi-Weekly: $ 6,433.99 Annually: $167,858.30 Travel is required; therefore, applicants must hold a valid B.C. Drivers Licence.
