Job Summary:We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Dovetail Box Assembler to join our production team. The primary responsibility of this role is to assemble drawer boxes using dovetail joinery techniques, ensuring high levels of precision, strength, and appearance. This position plays a key role in producing high-quality cabinet components for residential and commercial use.Key Responsibilities:Assemble drawer boxes using dovetail joinery, glue, clamps, and basic woodworking tools.Ensure proper alignment of joints and squareness of assembled boxes.Inspect components for defects such as chips, cracks, or misaligned cuts before assembly.Apply wood glue and handle clamping procedures to ensure secure joints.Sand and clean assembled boxes as needed to prepare for finishing or installation.Read and follow work orders, drawings, and job specifications.Maintain consistent quality standards and communicate any material or tooling issues.Maintain a clean and organized workstation and follow all safety guidelines.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Prior experience in woodworking, cabinet assembly, or dovetail drawer construction is highly desirable.Ability to read measuring tapes, drawings, and assembly instructions.Basic understanding of woodworking tools and clamping techniques.Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity.Ability to work independently and in a team setting.Physical ability to lift up to [30–50 lbs] and perform repetitive tasks.Work Environment:Indoor wood shop or cabinet production floor.Exposure to wood dust, adhesives, noise, and power tools (PPE provided).Standing, bending, and manual labor for extended periods.Hours of Work:Standard workweek is Monday to Friday, 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM.On-site role.Compensation & Benefits:Extended health, dental, and vision benefits.Group RRSP with employer matching.Paid vacation, sick leave, bereavement days, and personal days.Access to employee wellness initiatives and company events.Opportunities for training and career development.Why Join Merit Kitchens?At Merit Kitchens, we believe our strength lies in our people.
