VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Philanthropy & Community Engagement Assistant Organization: Jewish Family Services (JFS Vancouver) Location: Vancouver, BC Position Title: Volunteer – Philanthropy & Community Engagement Assistant Commitment: 10–15 hours per week (flexible) About JFS For over 88 years, Jewish Family Services (JFS) has been enhancing the quality of life for individuals and families across the Lower Mainland. Volunteer Role Overview Jewish Family Services is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Philanthropy & Community Engagement Assistant (Volunteer) to support our fundraising, communications, and community engagement efforts. This volunteer role is ideal for someone interested in nonprofit work, fundraising, marketing/communications, or event planning, and who wants to give back to the community while gaining valuable experience. Key Responsibilities Fundraising & Donor Support • Assist with donor stewardship, including preparing thank-you letters and campaign updates • Conduct research to support engagement strategies • Support fundraising initiatives, including tribute-giving and annual campaigns Marketing & Communications • Draft and schedule engaging social media posts • Support updates to the JFS website and newsletters • Help create content for marketing and communications Event Support • Assist with planning and delivering community and volunteer events • Help with logistics such as RSVPs, liaising with vendors, and event-day support General Administration • Provide administrative support, including data entry and project tracking • Assist the team with other tasks related to philanthropy and community engagement Skills & Interests Required • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Organizational and time management skills • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through • Able to work during daytime hours at our office location in central Vancouver Non-Required Assets • Interest in fundraising, marketing, communications, or philanthropy • Comfortable using social media and basic digital tools • Comfortable using email platforms (e.g., Mailchimp) or websites (e.g., WordPress) • Familiarity with donor databases (e.g., Raiser’s Edge) Why Volunteer With JFS? • Be part of a compassionate, welcoming, and inclusive organization making a difference in the community • Gain hands-on non-profit experience in philanthropy, donor relations, communications, and event planning • Flexible schedule (10–15 hours/week) • Reference letter provided upon successful completion of volunteer term How to Apply If you’re interested in volunteering as a Philanthropy & Community Engagement Assistant, please apply online or send a short email describing your interest and background to volunteer@jfsvancouver.ca.
