Calgary Stampede Foundation The Calgary Stampede Foundation provides young people with opportunities to discover and pursue their passions through programs like The Young Canadians School of Performing Arts, Calgary Stampede Showband, Band of Outriders and Calgary Stampede Showriders. These programs teach valuable skills and allow the opportunity to perform around the world. The Stampede’s state-of-the-art Youth Campus offers best practice learning, training, and performing facilities for these programs. Position Summary Reporting to the Manager, Youth Education Programs, the Education Facilitator is a member of the Calgary Stampede Youth Achievement Team responsible for supporting the education programs through facilitation, program development, and administration. This role will primarily support our Journey 2050 program, with opportunities to work with additional programs such as the Sam, Stampede School, and OH Ranch Education Programs. The Education Facilitator will spend an average of 75% of their time on facilitation and 25% of time on maintaining classroom assets, program development, and administration. Responsibilities Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to: Facilitation Enthusiastically deliver curriculum-aligned educational programming via field trips, in-class presentations, and possible virtual delivery Create an engaging and interactive learning environment, fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and meaningful connections, preparing youth as good humans Ensure safety and well-being of students, teachers, parent volunteers and presenters Facilitate programming for community-based programs such as 4H, Calgary Public Library, City of Calgary Camps Administration and Program Support Primary maintenance of classroom assets including a hydroponic/tower garden system, an aquaponics system, a vermicompost, and freshwater fish tank Maintenance of interactive teaching assets in classroom Maintenance of classroom technology – screens, computers, iPads – in partnership with Journey 2050 Coordinator Assist education coordinators in planning conferences and conventions, organization and purchase of program materials, and communication with teachers Support the development and execution of recruiting, awareness, and sustainability strategies to ensure long term growth and extension of the program reach and impact in the community Development & Design Innovative program and curriculum design, developing educational strategies to enrich student learning, engagement, long term impact, and community connection Establish and implement ongoing program evaluation and improvement processes, utilizing community collaboration and focusing on delivering a best practice learning environment Support the assessment, learning and implementation of processes to ensure the team and participants are reflective of the community. Qualifications The ideal candidate will be proactive, optimistic and have worked in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where they have experience delivering on multiple priorities and will hold the following qualifications: 1-3 years of related experience in education, community education or environment/sustainability sector Bachelor of Education, or related education or experience with at least three years in program delivery Experience working with school aged students Knowledge and experience with community-based learning environments Solid understanding of Alberta Education Curriculum Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills, with a high level of comfort when speaking to students, educators, school administrators, sponsors and partners Familiarity working with and technical troubleshooting skills for Apple products Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications including MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Publisher, and Outlook Background in science or agriculture considered an asset Valid driver's license and reliable access to a vehicle Attributes The successful candidate will embody and lead with the following attributes: Passion for community-based learning, holistic student development, and tackling social and global issues through fostering open conversations and critical thinking in students Passion for sustainability and food systems Organized and detail oriented Can clearly communicate with multiple stakeholders from students to internal departments to ensure program needs and information is clearly articulated. Working Conditions Office, classroom and outdoor environments may range from a traditional classroom to the broader Stampede Park to the trails of the OH Ranch depending on interest and schedule. Repetitive arm, hand and finger movements, occasional lifting up to 20 lbs., squatting, bending and reaching, stair climbing, sitting for long periods of time, exposure to dust, fumes and animal dander. Adequate visual acuity required. May be exposed to animal dander and hay as classrooms are located in or near barns. Within the classroom there are fish and worms.
