Project EngineerBusiness Unit: Draeger Safety Canada, Ltd., Job-ID: 1056Location: KingstonFunction: General functionsWork Location: On-SiteEmployment Type: PermanentThe Job ResponsibilitiesWe’re hiring If you want your contributions to make a real difference, check out this new career opportunity with us at Draeger, where we are guided by the principle “Technology for Life”.This role is onsite our Kingston locationLeads the engineering and design of Live Fire Training and Workshop Systems, providing guidance to junior engineers and contributing to complex system designs in compliance with applicable standards.Lead project engineering with senior support and guide EIT Mechanical Engineers.Design “Class B” propane-fueled fire training systems compliant with CSA, NFPA, UL, ESA, and TSSA requirements.Develop bills of materials and technical documentation, including instructions for use and safety labeling.Leads the engineering and design of Mine Life Support Breathing Gas Systems, ensuring compliant and reliable life-safety solutions.Lead engineering activities with senior support and guide EIT Mechanical Engineers.Design breathing protection and supply systems, including mine refuge shelters and auto-cascade refill systems.Ensures engineered systems meet internal quality standards, regulatory approvals, and customer requirements.Develop or adapt Acceptance Test Protocols (ATP).Perform testing, commissioning, inspections, and prototype validation as required.Resolve deficiencies and implement corrective actions for production or vendor components.Coordinate third-party inspections (ESA, TSSA, NRTLs) and maintain approval documentation.Support corporate quality initiatives, SOP compliance, and component lifecycle planning. Provides technical expertise to support sales activities and portfolio development.Prepare technical quotes, drawings, and RFP documentation.Develop and maintain sales and technical support materials.Oversee technical designs for assigned product groups.Collaborate with Engineering Services (Germany/regions).Support portfolio strategy, application knowledge, trade shows, and industry trend analysis.Project ManagementActs as project lead and primary customer contact to ensure successful project delivery.Coordinate project execution through completion, including commercial aspects.Monitor and report schedule, cost, and quality performance.Plan and control manufacturing, assembly, and installation activities.Implement corrective actions and ensure compliance with ES project management standards.Provides technical leadership to support effective project execution.Coach and review junior professionals.Lead internal and third-party technicians/trades for in-house and field activities.Your QualificationsEducation:Bachelor of Science, or Mechanical EngineeringP. Eng Designation Related Experience:2 or more years of experience in product design and engineering, preferably involving applications in industrial environment.Special Competencies or Certifications:Knowledge of design for metal fabrication (steel, SST, aluminum) and understanding of material properties.Knowledge of relevant codes, standards and guidelines (e.g. CSA, TSSA, NFPA).Ability to translate concepts into practical, producible designs.Ability to follow an existing template for design, customer communication and project co-ordination. Ability to create 3D CAD models, fabrication drawing packages and assembly drawings (e.g. AutoCad and SolidWorks).Knowledge of PLC controlled electro-mechanical system design and ability to troubleshoot.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint);Must possess strong organizational skills and attention to detailValid international travel documentsCompensation:The targeted pay range for this position is typically between $81,900-$98,300 CAD.
