Summary: The main responsibility of the Project Manager is to manage all aspects of a project (time, scope and budget) and establish relationships with the client, effectively communicating the status and requirements of the project, to ensure the success of the design and execution. The Project Manager will work directly with the customer and head office, managing tasks throughout the project life-cycle. The Project Manager will be accountable for meeting the agreed project scope of work, including project schedule and budget. In addition, the project Manager will support the ongoing development and improvement of project management activities, including the stage/gate delivery process and coordination of efforts with our head office. Principal tasks: Manage all project communications between the client and the Optel teams. Understand the requirements, costs, deadlines and limits of the project; Being responsible for all project planning and execution required to ensure OPTEL delivers a quality solution on time and within budget; Gather critical information when preparing the specifications for a relevant solution; Lead/provide strategic guidance for master planning and execution of tasks throughout the delivery process; Assess and understand the risks and costs associated with the project, as well as its feasibility and deadlines; Based on customer needs, understand or prepare specifications and quotes; Monitor the design of the solution with the various stakeholders; Follow up on the various detailed design reviews with the Optel teams and the client; Participate in regular scheduled project review meetings to ensure tasks/stages/gates are being met in an efficient and timely manner; Prepare, review or approve the various technical documents and the required equipment; Ensure that solution specific test plans are written; Manage customer relationships and escalating project support issues to account managers and senior management as required; Communicate project objectives, schedule, budget and roadblocks with cross functional teams at head office, customers, OEMs and other internal and external stakeholders as required; Communicate effectively using all forms of communication at all levels of the company and customers, including providing project status reports in a clear, organized and concise manner; Based on design specifications and customer requirements, transmit information to the software, mechanical, IT and documentation teams; Provide support to internal teams and the client to resolve technical problems during the project. Requisite Skills: Project management qualification or a degree in engineering, science or related technical background; Relevant technical experience of at least 5 years in a similar field; Experience within a regulated industry (Pharmaceutical, Medical Device, Automotive, Food and Beverage) is preferred; Excellent communication, both oral and written, in English; Knowledge of project management tools, techniques, culture or PMI PMP certification; Effective organizational skills with regard to tasks and priorities; Good judgment regarding the financial, technical and operational aspects of a project; Having the insight to offer, or support, a pragmatic and robust solution (for a standard project); Excellent team building skills, able to work with various cultures, backgrounds and cross functional teams; Bringing a positive team spirit; Some travel may be required.
