Job DescriptionJob Title: Small Business ControllerLocation: Etobicoke, ON Employment Type: Full-Time, On-SiteHours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PMOverview:Our Client is seeking an independent and detail-oriented Small Business Controller to oversee the financial operations of multiple leased properties. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organized, and experienced in full-cycle accounting, payroll, and property management systems. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a small business environment and can manage accounting functions end-to-end with minimal supervision.Key Responsibilities:Oversee and execute day-to-day accounting operations for multiple properties.Manage receipts, disbursements, and bank reconciliations.Process payroll and accounts payable using QuickBooks.Utilize Yardi Breeze to record and collect tenant rent payments.Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and reports.Track and report HST and other regulatory filings as needed.Manage and maintain lease renewals and tenant records (approximately 100 tenants).Handle payroll for salaried employees and ensure accuracy and compliance.Perform minimal collections, as all buildings are nearly fully leased.Work independently with limited supervision while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.Support organizational objectives as Our Client prepares to sell all properties within the next 2–3 years.RequirementsQualifications:Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management.Proficiency in QuickBooks and Yardi Breeze required.Strong understanding of GAAP and full-cycle accounting.Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (including HST tracking, reconciliations, and financial reporting).Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and time management.Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities.CPA designation or in progress is considered an asset but not required.BenefitsBenefits are not provided.RequirementsQualifications: Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in real estate or property management.
