Working as a core member of an interdisciplinary team, the NP delivers trauma‑informed, recovery‑oriented, patient-centered care. The NP practices autonomously within their legislative scope while collaborating closely with medical, nursing, and therapeutic staff to support safe detoxification, medication‑assisted treatment (MAT), psychiatric stabilization, and long-term recovery planning.Key ResponsibilitiesConduct comprehensive physical assessments for patients with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health diagnoses.Diagnose acute withdrawal syndromes, psychiatric conditions, chronic illnesses, and addiction‑related complications.Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized treatment plans for addiction and mental health conditions.Provide medical oversight of withdrawal management, including monitoring symptoms, safety, and stabilization.Prescribe and manage medication-assisted treatments (MAT), such as: Buprenorphine/naloxone, Methadone (if licensed), Naltrexone, Anti-craving medications, Psychotropic medicationsManage concurrent medical conditions commonly linked to addiction (e.g., liver disease, infections, chronic pain).Interpret lab work and diagnostic imaging.Monitor treatment response and side effects for psychotropic medications.Work closely with physicians, psychiatrists, nurses, therapists, social workers, and support workers.Participate in clinical rounds, case reviews, and care conferences as necessary.Provide education on addiction, relapse prevention, harm reduction, medications, and mental health management.Empower patients toward recovery using motivational interviewing and strengths‑based approaches.Support families with education and guidance on treatment progress and expectations as required.Document assessments and interventions accurately in electronic medical records.Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, prescribing regulations, privacy laws, and organizational policies.Promote patient safety by identifying risks early and participating in quality improvement initiatives related to addiction and mental health.Assume responsibility and accountability for own professional development, educational or consultative assistanceAbility to be part of on call rotationOther duties as required This is a unionized roleQualificationsMaster’s Degree in Nursing and NP designationActive NP licensure with prescribing authority in good standing.Experience in addiction medicine, psychiatry, or complex continuing care strongly preferred.Training or certification in: Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT), Trauma-informed care, considered an assetExcellent diagnostic reasoning for both medical and psychiatric conditions.Employee Benefits and Perks:Comprehensive benefits package including a yearly allowance of $2,000 for mental health and addiction services, plus $600 for various paramedical services (e.g., massage, physiotherapy)24/7 Employee Assistance Program through GreenShield HealthCompetitive paid time off, with an extra paid day off for your birthday, offered to eligible employeesFloat Days and Recognized Statutory Holidays, providing additional flexibility and time off for eligible employeesAccess to in-house fitness facilities or discounted gym membershipsExclusive discounts through Perkopolis on entertainment, insurance, and moreOpportunities for personal and professional growth through our Education Support Assistance programSupportive relocation opportunities due to our nationwide presenceDefined Benefit pension plan with up to a 4% employer contributionMaternity and parental leave top-upDiscounts available at Kids & Co.
