Key Information:We are seeking an experienced Rakerman to join our paving crew. The ideal candidate has hands-on asphalt experience, works well in a team environment, and takes pride in producing a quality finished product.Employment: SeasonalHours: Project dependent. Overtime as required.Must be willing to work evenings/nights and weekends on various schedules. Hourly rate is dependent on experience. Health benefits, pension plan, RRSP matching, vacation pay offered.Job Description:Works with rakes to redistribute the asphalt mix more precisely as it leaves the screed and is ready for rolling.May operate a variety of hand and power tools as well as some equipment.Works as part of the paving crew primarily raking asphalt, shoveling excess asphalt and sweeping up debris.Complete a variety of other general labour assignments such as clean and prepare sites.Spread asphalt using efficient techniques and maintaining a good pace.Perform a variety of tasks involving strenuous manual labour.Perform a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools.Maintain a clean job site, pick up tools and equipment in order to eliminate potential hazards.Other related duties as required.Work is performed in an outdoor setting, which could include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, grease, fumes, odors, oil, asphalt, and toxic and flammable substances.Required to perform tasks that involve heavy lifting, bending, and strenuous movements.Use of personal protection equipment is required.Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear required when working outdoors.Required to perform tasks that involve bending and strenuous movements.Consistent work with opportunity for advancement.Experience and Certification Requirements:Minimum of 1+ years of experience is required.Must be required to alternate duties with operating various machines.Ability to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labour under adverse field conditions.CSTS 2020, WHMIS 2015, and ground disturbance 201 are required.A driver's abstract is required and must be obtained no more than 30 days prior to employment start date.Stress management.Ethics and integrity.Able to work in a fast paced, high production environment.Able to work unsupervised.Able to work well with others.Good communication skills.
