JOB DESCRIPTION Veterinary AssistantLocation: Calgary, ABDepartment: OphthalmologyEmployment Type: Full-timeCalgary Animal Referral and Emergency Centre, a member of VCA Canada, is currently welcoming a full time Ophthalmology Tech Assistant to join our ever growing facility.Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills, be compassionate, and have the ability to adapt to the needs of clients and coworkers. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively within a highly functioning team. This individual should be self-motivated to stay productive.Duties Include:Assisting Techs and Vets with daily tasks and patient care.Providing hands-on care for our patients, including feeding, walking, and maintaining the cleanliness of patients and their housing.Performing proper restraint techniques to aid Techs and Vets in assessing and treating patients.Assisting in sample collection, radiographs, surgery and ophthalmic procedures.Communicating with clients and providing daily updates on their pets' conditions.Offering physical and emotional support for patients.Maintaining the hospital treatment areas and ensuring general cleanliness.Performing other duties as needed for the general maintenance of the hospital.On-call requirementsSchedule:Hours: 8 am-6 pm, Tuesday to Friday.What VCA Canada Offers:Join our team and make a significant impact in the lives of pets and their families With an extensive network of hospitals across Canada, each location offers a unique experience, a local community feel, and a caring culture you can thrive in.
