Project Controls Summer Student

Job DescriptionBantrel has an exciting opportunity for Engineering, Construction Management, and Project Management students to support our Energy, Mining, and Infrastructure Teams this summer. Reporting to the Project Services Systems Manager, you will support various Energy/Infrastructure related projects from the Calgary corporate office. The position will be starting in May 2026 for a 4-month term.  Join us in a full-time temporary roleDevelopment opportunities (may include and are not limited to):Meaningful contribution to some of the more challenging engineering and construction projects in Canada.Working on problems and gaining Project Controls related experience in an office environmentCollaborating with diverse teams.Leveraging the latest technology trends in the development of novel tools and processes for improving Project Reporting.Benefit from formal and informal mentorship from some of the leading minds and authorities in the industry.Participate in local Lunch and Learn sessions, and more to develop your skills.Join in charitable, social, and other activities with other employees.Duties & Responsibilities (may include and are not limited to):Assist senior project controls leads with their responsibilities including gathering and checking project controls related data.Work independently and as part of a team to complete project specific project controls deliverables, including:Staff Plans Reports (Power BI)Progressing ReportsCost ReportsScheduling ReportsGain experience developing Power BI reports from various data sources.Become knowledgeable with the Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) process and working in a Data Lake, Data warehouse environment.Competencies (knowledge, skill, attributes):Good understanding of project controls and business fundamentals as they apply to projects and reportingCollaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Shows critical and creative thinking and problem solving and brings forward solutions.Understanding of the Microsoft Power Platform tools, specifically Power BI.Adapts and embraces change.QualificationsMust be enrolled in an engineering, project management, or construction management program at an accredited university.You will have completed 3 years of your program by April 2026.Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community.Interest in project controls and complex projects.Previous work experience will be considered an asset.Technical experience with Power BI tools, ability to use data-centric design tools, and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) will be preferred.Note: Applicants must submit a transcript (official or unofficial) upon applicationAdditional InformationWhy Join Bantrel?We offer a competitive compensation package, a great learning environment, interesting & challenging work and the opportunity for career advancement.Eligible employees can participate in our Earned Day Off program (EDO) providing alternate Fridays off (based on annual calendar)Explore the many reasons to be part of our teamOur culture is guided by our Mission and Values, these shape how we treat one another, our Clients, and how we achieve excellence.
