As the Substation Electrician, your duties will include: Under the direction of the department leadership team and the Lead Hand, perform maintenance, repairs, and switching and testing of substations & electrical system equipment. Maintain a stable and reliable supply of power to the company’s customers. Participate in the design, installation and maintenance of the electric SCADA system, Intelligent Electronic Devices and related communication components. Adhere to all applicable policies, procedures, regulations and standards. Assist in the development of job planning, work protection and monitoring in accordance with OHSA and corporate health and safety policies. Qualifications: Current hold, or the ability to obtain a MEARIE Journeyman Substation Electrician Certification. Hold and maintain a valid Ontario driver’s license. Sound working knowledge of electrical power systems, controls and related components. Strong oral and written communication skills. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Must be functional in the use of computers and associated software. Sound knowledge of Health and Safety procedures. Ability to respond in a reasonable time to after-hour callouts when required.
